Dual Core.
As I mentioned earlier, the damn thing came loaded with Vista and only 1GB RAM. I was advised by a mate whose pc knowledge far exceeds mine that Vista was a shit OS and should never have been installed wsith only 1GB to play with.
Any idea of the cost of installing an upgraded CPU, or does it require a complete motherboard? (In which case, it gets its pension early and a more modern pc takes its place - prices are too low these days to stuff around with new bits for old gear.)
I'm fairly confident that upgrading the processor on a laptop isn't a worthwhile venture - but my Samsung NC20 only has a 1.3ghz processor and runs like greased lightning. Processor speed isn't the same indicator of processing capability that it used to be.
Remember, five years ago my computer had a 3.6ghz processor. was a slug.
My new pc has a 3.0ghz processor and runs like the wind. FIVE years later. The speed is so irrelevant![]()

Yes, but it will only use one at a time to process foreground applications. My old dual-core used to use all 3.6ghz at once to no avail![]()

im running windows 7 ultimate... certainly did good with this one... vista was shit
I moved over to windows 7 ultimate from XP home back in Nov/Dec Or Jan 08 when the first betas were released and have never looked back. Ive been running windows 7 for 12 months now and have used it through all major beta releases. I now run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit which i got for free from Microsoft :P I must admit it owns and i have recommended it to every family member/friend/customer that I've spoken to about it.
One thing I tell everyone "GO SSD" Honestly, SSD's mixed with windows 7 is OMG this is great, I know $ per GB is way over a regular Hard drive, but it just runs so much fasterJust make sure you get one that it is able to run a wiper.

Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...
hey guys,
got a quick question i wanna get windows 7, now i got vista home premium, now do i just buy the windows seven upgrade for 199? or the 300 one?
Have you got the Disk and Serial number that came with Vista? If So just the upgrade should do. If its just an OEM Copy, as long as you have the serial number that came with vista I don't see why not. However If you can spare the extra $100 bucks just go the full copy, for reinstalls etc.
