hey im reformatting a laptop but i dont have the xp cd for it but i do have one for another laptop can i use that cd but use the activation code on the actual laptop that im wiping the data from?

Is the Windows CD from the other laptop a OEM disc or is it a Recovery Disc.
If it is a recovery disc, it will be most likely a direct image of the Hard Drive when it came from the factory, therfore it will be useless to use on the other PC.
If you can get your hands on a Windows XP OEM cd from someone you'll be able to use that with your license code.

Alternatively you can ring microsoft and ask for a replacement CD to be sent to you. Microsoft Australia - 13 20 58 and ask for a replacement CD to be sent.
