is that goin to work? i really dont knw its got my head in dont wanna waste 130 bucks on sumthing that isnt gonna work...i mainly want it just for the sony for online
hope it makes some sense in their
thanks
i have optus wireless pre paid i reaserched em all and they where the cheapest for the most time/downloads ect
I work in Bigpond/Telstra so I know alot about their devices, but nothing about other providers.
With BigPond/Telstra you have a few options.. You can purchase the 7.2 Home Network Gateway through either Telstra/Bigpond which will have 4 ethernet ports plus wireless, so your pc's and PS3 will connect fine to this.
Another option is to use the usb/pc cards, connect to the internet on the computer, and set up an Outgoing Ethernet connection.. Which is basically running an ethernet cable from pc to PS3, and connecting to the net through this, which will also work fine.
Then you have your 3rd party USB routers, which will get a little more complicated.
Just to stop confusion, BigPond and Telstra will offer different plans.
Telstra has prepaid plans, and Bigpond will have monthly plans, which you will have to lock into a contract....
heres a search thing i looked at, shows you probably all the ISPs available
Plan Search - Broadband Choice
i tried manty times to hook up my ps3 using 3g wireless modem (on 3 network - they are crap) and i had no luck with it. There are many articles on the web saying it can be done, but im not convinced personally. Look it up on youtube for a how to guide, but i couldnt get it to work and im not a retard with computers.
JC.
yeh b4 i get a plan or anything i wanna b sure i can hook my sony up to it
i copied this from the optus site:
Optus has approved the following modems as being suitable for use with the Optus Pre-Paid Wireless Broadband Service.
* Huawei E160E USB Modem
* Huawei E220 USB Modem
* Huawei E960 Wireless Gateway Modem
* Huawei E870 PC Express Data Card
* Option GT Max Data Card
* Option PC Express Data Card
now from the sounds of that it can b connected to a modem?? might hav to go in store n suss it out i reckon
What you are after is a wireless router that has a USB port to allow 3G modems to connect to it.
Netcomm have one N3G005W N3G005W 3G HSDPA Wi-Fi Router (USB Compatible): : NetComm Australia
basically plug the Next G / 3G USB modem into the back of it and then you can setup PC's, etc to the router instead.

yeh thanks for that been doing abit of researchin still,
three have been good, and they offer wifi router aswell
three offer: moden $130, router $169, 12g $100 365 day expiry setup will cost 400 all up
ive check ther coverage and i hav it in the area aswell
what u guys think any experiance with three in adelaide?
been doin abit more researching tonight
sounds like three is pretty shit for gaming and unreliable etc...think most ppl would say that..
telstra might be the way to go as said above,
looking at the 7.2 Home Network Gateway on a 12 month contract for either 5g for $89.95 or 10g for $129.95
bit pricey i think but ahwell
Are you moving to a premises with a phone line.
You cheapest and most reliable option would be to get ADSL Broadband.
You can get a fast and large plan for around $50.00 Per Month and minimum cost for line rental is $20.95 so it would cost about $70.00 Per month.
Internode have a plan Easy Broadband - 1500 30GB plan for $49.95 Internode :: Residential :: Broadband :: ADSL :: Easy Broadband :: Plans

which is why i have been askin about wireless
im in melbourne and have "3" wireless usb internet and i play CoD4 online and my ping usually sits on about 140...havent tried it with my 360 yet but one of my mates has his 360 hooked up with a telstra usb internet and has no problems
