Make my xbox RROD?

I've had my Xbox Elite for 13months now, and today only a month out of warranty it decided to die.

It'll freeze whenever I try and play any game. So I need to make it RROD.. So any ideas lol?

I've heard to wrap it in a towel. Or stick it in the freezer.. Or wrap it in a fireblanket.

13 months... they should cover it anyway out of goodwill. otherwise go back to your supplier. Dunno about oz, but we have the consumer guarantees act here. "goods shall be suitable for their intended use, and last a reasonable amount of time". I would think 5 -7 years is considered 'resonable' for electronics

you need to over heat it wrap it tightly in towels and turn it on so the intro plays over and over and it will eventully rrod

same thing happend to me also was 1 month out of warranty but Microsoft still took it just make sure u hav ur reciept

Whered you get those stats from? last ones i saw (about 6 months ago, done by hyper i think it was) said it was like 50 for xbox, and 40 for PS3

Why does it have to add up to 100%? I'm confused. He's just saying that 54.2% of X360's fail, 10.6% of PS3's fail, and 6.8% of Wii's fail. I think you misread his post lol.


I haven't had my 360 for very long... about 8 months now I think, but it doesn't get overly used and never left on for too long so I'm confident it will last long enough it's also a Jasper and they have a much lower failure rate than the older models.

oh yeah my bad. i thought it was the % of dead consoles between the 3 brands, not individually.

They then changed this to 3 years about a year later, so i got it fixed for free.

Whats your console actually doing? just not loading up at all? or showing an error code on the screen?

Basically it freezes 4/5 times when loading. It gives me either a black screen, or vertical lines.

And the screen will do that during most games, 2/3mins into a game.

Atm it's wrapped in a blanket playing a movie, but no RROD yet

If its green vertical lines, thats what mine did. So chances are it will be the same problem.

Put it in the freezer for 10mins... Then continued watching Harry Potter lol.. 3mins in and RROD!!

Turned off and on.. and It's playing fine... Might do the freezer trick again.

i sent mine back in because it had no video (but when they asked i told them RROD)

long story short. a week and half after i sent it, i had a fixed console...

oh and if you wrap it in a towel.. dont play movies or games... just put a shitty CD in there and put it on repeat... then let it sit for like 2-3hours

Yeah I just ended up sending it away anyway. And told them it had RROD. Ended up buying a 2nd xbox anyway lol.

my xbox got the RROD earlyer this year i rang them and told them that it kept freezing ect and they told me to send it back so this is how i sent it back.

i had my xbox for 2 years and got a rrod and the xbox guy was like your warrenty has expired but because you got rrod you get an extra year, im like you bet your ass i do.

Sent it off and about 2 months later i got it back
