    Default trouble with ps3 online

    Hey guys,
All of a sudden my ps3 is not hooking to the net when i switch it on. My lappy has a connection so i'm assuming something is wrong at the ps3 end. Everything is where it's supposed to be and the ps3 is working fine otherwise.
Any ideas on what i can try next?

So you just can't sign in to your account or it says it's disconnected in the settings menu?

I know sometimes it's just a PS3 Network problem one time i could not sign in for a month. But i was getting a time out. Try plugging the cable that you use for the ps3 into your laptop and see you get connection (remember to turn Wifi off if you are using it). If does not work it's the cable or the cable is not pushed in.

Switch your wireless router off and on again. When mine does the same thing it works for me.

The modem would control the pot forwarding not the router. So Juzo what Modem do you have? (that is if they are separate devices) or do you have a Modem Router?

Now to be honest I haven't done much port forwarding, so i'll let someone else describe it. Unplug the router and plug the cable that used to plug in to the router into the computer.

Then login into the modem (depending what the address is, try: 192.168.1.1 , 192.168.0.1 , 10.1.1.1 or it could be something else) You'll probably know it anyway. And then you'll need to find Port Forwarding or sometime the call it Virtual Server.

And from here on i can't remember what to do. so... click here

Yeah mine's also wireless to the ps3 and laptop. Having no such dramas with the laptop but it's annoying when you're trying to shoot coppers on gta4 and you disconnect

Ok, after a bit of research i found that this problem is quite common so there is a fair bit of info available on the subject. In the end i got into my router settings and enabled the DMZ setting (which has something to do with nat) with my ps3 ip address and i played for 2 hours last night without any problems or frustrating disconnections. I'll try it again tonight to see if i was just having a lucky night but i'm hopeful that i've fixed the problem.
