Portable Hard Drive and Booting

Guys, another noob question from myself, but I guess no question is a silly one..

I have a 1 Terrabyte portable hard drive (usb) connected, one C drive (permanantly in case) and one D drive (permanently in).. Windows is booted from c drive, D drive is simply storage, and the portable is another storage medium.

If I have the Portable hard drive plugged in on a fresh startup, the boot stalls at a particular time, when its finding hard disks..

Anyway I can prevent this?

Check in the BIOS, maybe it's trying to boot of that drive first. Disable USB boot or change the boot order.
