Default Weird Keyboard Problem- Solved thanks :)

I was given a 1yr old computer from my folks when they upgraded and I was going along merrily until I went to log into facebook and realised that some of the keys are not typing what they should be. Eg. the @ key (shift 2) appears as " and vice versa and the hash key appears as £. Got me buggered lol Anyone know what the prob is or better yet how to fix it?

who installed windows on it? it sounds like it might have had used a british keyboard layout.

does it just happen online or in word etc too?
