Whats the best program to get rid of trojan's and other unwanted stuff
i have norton's but it must of slipped pass through that somehow please help me
I use NOD32, best program i have ever used. Doesn't use up heaps of space, doesn't slow my computer down, and haven't had a problem with our computer since purchasing it.
Kapersky Anti Virus is supposed to be another good one.

Google the trojan you have(search running proceses etc) there are many sites which explain removal.

Then get a good anti virus. I personally think Norton is a piece of shit. That's just my opinion though. Makes your computer run like a squashed turd.

My lads PC has been hit by the ****ing trojans. So far it has killed Symantic, AVG & malwarebits. All 3 have been screwed and now re infects it self the moment it plugs into the internet.
Format C: is next.

yeah i dont want to have to format it as will loose all my photos and shit!!!
Trojans dont really infect anything. They tend to capture data to send to a remote site. They tend to only draw data from browsers, as the people that write them are looking for banking / credit card info.
Forget anti virus programs. They arent worth a pinch of sh*t.
Forget malware programs that stay running all the time, like avast. Again - not worth a pinch of politicians poo.
Invest in a hardware firewall to isolate yourself from the internet. That will prevent any unauthorised connections between yourself and the www.
Delete / remove all anti virus programs. Run the registery editor 'regedit' and delete any and every entry you find in the registry that contains the word norton or symantec or whatever the maker of your anti virus program is. Download a program called Spybot search and destroy. Install, update, run it fix errors, shutdown, restart run again. Shut down spybot S & D. run it again in a few months.
Dont use internet explorer. Download and use firefox or opera.
Dont follow links in dodgy emails.
Follow this recipe and never have problems again.
First one (spybot S&D) in the google list was a fake....
Dont down load a file setupxv.exe.
The proper file is spybotsd162.exe (I hope)

The home of Spybot-S&D!
Thats the legit one.
Spybot looks to be working on the infected PC.... Started blocking regedit attempts. Looks like we may just get this PC under control after all.

the cause is that this WINDOWS PC DEFENDER popped up and said i had to download it, i then was looking in google just before and there is a site that tells you a list of viruses and this is one of them and it also tells you how to get rid of it so now its downloading and hopefully this gets rid of it!!

i was using trend and it was good till i got a nasty virus?? the kept messing with firefox so i downloaded avg ( which didn't find shit) then adware which found a few things and problem gone
whats the difference between my missus and my blower??
well they both whine but the blower actually puts out
Try using Combofix A guide and tutorial on using ComboFix
Download it and run it from "Safe Mode with Networking"
also download "Windows Cleanup" and run it.
After running both of those, download Malwarebytes and run a full scan with that.
If all those fail to remove it try RogueFix
Also go into control panel and under system turn off the "system restore" otherwise you will be reinfected again.

so tommorow a tech is coming to have a look as im over it!
you're getting a tech to look at a virus?!
imho, if you ever get a virus or trojan etc, you should reformat your computer. most of these **** with your dlls. no matter what do you, you'll never get windows back the same as it was before, and there's always a risk that it's still hiding somewhere in your system. that's just my opinion though, and others will probably disagree.
if you set up your computer properly in the first place then reformatting won't be an issue. i think a lot of people think reformatting is the end of the world. it's not. if, god forbid, something happened to my windows installation, i could reformat and be back on the same page within about an hour, minus the applications which i would need to install (on a per-use basis). sure i work in IT, but it's reaaaaally easy and i'll tell you how.
you need 2 hard drives. one for data, one for windows. anything you care about goes on the data hard drive. anything you don't goes on the windows one. if you only have 1 hard drive, buy another. you can do it with a single hard drive by partitioning it, but this causes other problems, highly unrecommended. if this is your main computer than you use every day, for the $100 it costs for a new hard drive (that's 1 terabyte by the way), this could end up saving your precious data, so you really can't even put a price on it. viruses etc mainly attack your windows installation. they will very rarely actually attack anything that is on a separate hard drive. so if you get a virus or your windows installation ****s up (this happens all the time as well), you can just load up your windows disc and reformat your windows hard drive. you don't have to worry about any of the data that was on this drive - it was only installed programs that you can simply install again. all your stuff is on the other drive, which won't be reformatted, so you never lose anything. it's ridiculous the amount of times someones windows installation has been corrupted, and i've had to take out their hard drive, find all their files, save them to my hard drive, format their computer, copy all the data back... and inevitably things still get lost... what a waste of time. you can even map 'my documents' if you like using it to a different hard drive, all you do is create a new folder on your new hard drive called My Documents. then click on Start, right click My Documents, and change the target path to <drive letter>:\My Documents. so after you reformat, you just remap it to your data hard drive, and instantly all your pictures, music, etc is exactly the same as it was before.
reformatting itself isn't hard, you put the windows disc in the computer, boot into it, select the hard drive you want to format (if you don't know, just unplug the data hard drive before you start), select full format (don't do quick format), and pretty much follow the prompts from there to install windows. very simple.
yeah well i would format it but its a rental computer from retravission one of the top of the line computers and for 1 i dont want to loose all my stuff, so im just getting him to look at it other then that i have no idea as i have tried pretty much everything!
Virut killed my Movie & Games PC. Format C: and installed fresh OS. (all the games ad movies are on removable drives) so no data loss. Just hours of trying to save the OS.
