Was going through all my unused programmes, and doing a bit of spring cleaning. I deleted some program called VIA HD Audio Deck. After that all the sound stopped working, nothing coming out of the speaker or headphones. I did a bit of research on the net and found out that I must have deleted a sound driver, but how do I get it back? I've gone through some of the windows cd's and can't seem to find one that has sound card drivers on it. Just wondering if anyone knows where to get them from, without having to pay for them once you download a program and it does 3/4 of what you need then asks you to give them money. Cheers

Had a look on the link but couldn't find anywhere to download their software. I managed to download the program again, but installing it is where I get stuck. It comes with a redme.txt, but the instructions are above my computing knowledge. I have underlined the section that I am stuck on....
. Import driver components
(1) Copy all the files to a directory, e.g. "D:\VIADRIVERS\VIAHDUAA190a\".
(2) Create a directory, e.g. "D:\VIA_Repositories\", if there is
none.
(3) Open Component Database Manager under Microsoft Windows
Embedded Studio.
(4) Click on the "Repository" and then "Repository Roots..." buttons.
Type in the complete path of the repositories directory,
for example "D:\VIA_Repositories\". Click on the "Add" button
and answer "Yes".
(5) Click on the "Database", "Import...", and then "..." buttons.
Navigate to directory "D:\VIADRIVERS\VIAHDUAA190a\" and
then choose the .SLD file. Next, pull down "Repository root"
drop-down and select "D:\VIA_Repositories\". Click on the
"Import" and then "Close" buttons to close the dialog.
(6) Close the "Component Database Manager".

Have downloaded several versions of the program and none of them have done the job, either I have got the wrong ones or I am no good at installing them. I think I'll just call microsoft and see if they can help me over the phone. Cheers for all the help
Uh I have gone into system properties, and this is what it says:
Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
Computer: Intel(R)
Celeron(R) CPU 2.66GHZ.
Is that what you need?

Ok so your Mother Board's model is Gigabyte GA-VM900M.
This is the right driver for that motherboard (assuming you have: Windows XP, and you do not have another sound card (could not see one)): http://Asia.giga-byte.com/FileList/D..._via_hypro.exe
Otherwise this is the page for it: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...t=xp#anchor_os
Try this first if it still does not work than it's not your driver but could be a setting.
Thanks heaps, I'm downloading it now, will see if it works.
Just do a system restore on your pc till before you deleted the files.
