cd/dvd rom wiped?

hey guys,
with the main comp here at home shat it self bout a month ago, *motherboard went*
finally got it back last week,

now just tonight ive tried to install a program via the cd but it never found it...
so ive looked in my device settings and its been complety wiped from the system,

is ther anyway i can get this driver back? ive got a program that scans and updates any driver but thats even sayin its been wiped/gone from the comp..

so obviously the guys who fixed it have done sumthing to it for this to happen, wont be able to get hold of them till next week when i get some time..

so any help would be appreciated

You need to edit the registry and remove the upper and lower keys and then restart and it will work again.

or just click on the fix it for me link in this page Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

make sure you click on the right one for your OS (XP or Vista)

Did you try there automated fixing utility??

I'm guessing that when they were stuffing with it that they have pulled the data cable off (IDE Cable or SATA Cable). Either that or the drive is faulty.
Pull the side of the PC and check to make sure that the cables are plugged in firmly. Use this as a guide if you need to http://www.build-your-own-computer-t...rom-drive.html

yeh i will look at it... ive had the comp for ova a year now so its not faulty, ill pull it apart n hav a look

if not time for a blue ray burner me thinks

this just recently happend to my new laptop, cd/dvd drive just didnt work, went to that link and did what it said...

yess it worked, awesome...also went back to the desktop for another shot and that also worked, both comps are working again

alrite ive got another problem, well still the same 1 actually, yesterday when i went to use my comp my dvd drive has disappeared once again but how? went to do the same things i did when i first fixed it but those settings are gone now..

any help plz
