New computer troubles

Hey guys, just got a new notebook computer. I cant get the internet to install on there. I have a usb modem and software. I cant seem to install the software and get internet working. Can i somehow install the modem without the software or something?

Also i just went to install a game, but it said i need 64mb memory or something, but my computer has 4gb memory?

As you can see i dont know much about computers haha. just want to get internet working.

what modem do you have, and what operating system is it running?

if you have a USB only modem, i dare say it's not compatible with anything above windows xp (i have a dsl-200, and they didn't make drivers for vista)

yeah its a usb only modem. computer running vista. that sucks so you think i have to buy a new modem? how much are they worth?

yeah it's easier to just go and buy a new one. i couldn't get it working with vista (when i had it), but i never liked vista anyway so i switched back to xp and it wasn't a problem. get an adsl modem + wireless router all in one. something like this will do you just fine:
Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem/Router with 4-Port Switch

that way you can either use wireless or ethernet, and you never have to worry about usb again
