    Default Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

    Hey guys,

Just want to know what you guys think of OFR?

IGN: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Review

I've been playing it the last few days (PC) and although it looks awesome visually and on the most part the gameplay is good, I've found several times thinking to myself that it feels very un-polished and isn't quite as good as it could have been.

The AI is OK but not brilliant.

My main issue with it is that there are alot of interactions and animations missing that I would have considered fairly standard.

    EG.

You get your 4 man team into a open top jeep, driver, shotgunner, .50 cal gunner and a bloke in the back. The only team member that will engage the enemy is the man on the .50cal.

The guy in shotgun just sits there motionless as does the guy in the back.

Plus all the characters are stiff in the vehicles, they don't react and move as the jeap is bouncing around on rough terrain. Same as the minigunners in the chopper... the chopper lands and they are just frozen stiff... no looking around, no nothing.

This game could have been awesome because it's realistic in terms of the combat... but it falls short.

Anyone else played it? Like it?

I've been thinking about it but if I was going to choose I'd be going with ARMA II I think just because I was a huge fan of the origianl flashpoint

    same here,

big fight over the name tho.
Bohemia made the original game engine, codemasters owning the brand. so after the companies split,
    Bohemia>Arma 1+2
codemasters > operation flash point 2

so Arma has the full realism while Opertaion flashpoing 2 is abit more CoD 4 shooter. that's my 2c anyway

Operation Flashpoint 2 is pretty far away from being anything like COD4.

Critical body hits kill, the combat environment is massively open and the enemy doesn't keep coming.

But I will need to look into ARMAII by the sound of it!

im still deciding weather or not to buy opf2 but i already have arma 2 which besides the bugs is realy good.

Jesterarts is opf2 gameplay during the day kinda blury with the sun because arma 2 kinda has this blur to it on any graphics setting and it gets pretty anoying

Umm... not sure exactly what you mean, but there is focus blur in OF2DR and when you are looking towards the sun things get darker... if that makes sense...

ALso if you spring for a long time things start getting a big blurry and darkish.

so after playing the game, to me it resembles Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

team of 4, command menu in the center of screen (can't move when its open), same weapon list interface, order team mates where to go in "map" view, easy one shot death, no action menu (just an action key), no joystick support, can't move head interdependently, light head bobbing and they removed the time acculturation so missions take some time to complete. tho i do like the blur effect when your heavily injured.

similarities to ARMA are; mission editor, one shot death, when injured your on the ground wait for a medic, heal team mates.

so if you are a fan the original Operation Flashpoint and ARMA, i don't think you'll like this game too much. where if your a first person shooter fan, then you would.
