Jailbreaking iPhone
Ok, I've done a little research onto this, a lot of poeple say its good, some say its bad..
I want to hear from you guys in regards to any stuff ups after doing it, anything go wrong? or was it all peachy, and sweet..
For the record, I checked the legalities behind it, at this stage - Jailbreaking IS legal.

Jailbreaking is indeed legal, but I'm pretty sure it voids the warranty.. With firmware 3.0 and the appstore, jailbreaking is no longer particularly useful... There are various apps that apple doesn't like because they control too much, so they get rejected from the store.
Look into the cydia apps available.. If any strike your fancy, jailbreak away.

Yeah its all good trent, ive had mine jail broken from day 1 no issues what so ever.

Cheers guys.. now yes - I have doen the research here and there. The main benefit I can see is basically free apps.. I've heard you get better camera capability - video/zoom and all? (I have the original 8gb iPhone by the way)..
Can anyone confirm?

Yea, mine's been jailbroken too since i started using it. Only problem was wheni went to jailbreak it first. It had version 1 software and 3 had just come out. Tried jumping straight to 3, crashed the iPhone, let iTunes do an update (which turned out to be free because it recognized the version 3 software) and then jailbroke it after that.
It's now also unlocked. Great feature, needed it to use on my network. Since being jailbroken properly there's been no issues. Great customisation and many people want their iPhones jailbroken so they arn't limited to what Apple say you can do with them

Free apps is good. Video and Zoom, doesn't improve unless you get some of the packages from Cydia. (And yes, i have the 8GB 3G iPhone too)
Whats a good program to use to jailbreak it? I use redsnow i think its called? when i first got it and it didn't work.

i have done it, all went well. would i do it again? answer is no.
the only thing that i use on it that i couldnt have done if it wasn't jailbroken is my service provider so where it says optus or vodafone or whatever... mine says "got milk" and i have a coke can as a slider.

Nah cydia is like the appstore.. But 3rd party. Check out THIS website.. has just about everything you'll ever need.

HoZy, just remember with blackra1n you cannoy unlock an iPhone with that. It must be done with Pwnagetool (mac only).
Unless yellowsn0w through Cydia still works on 3.1.2?
