    Default Solid Sate Drive

Looking at a Solid State Drive for a Xmas Present for my young bloke.

    A few questions?

I've been looking at a Crucial CT128M225 2.5" 128GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD).

Would this fit ok and be appropriate for his sytem?

He's got an Antec "Nine Hundred" Tower Gaming Case.
I'm not sure where such a drive would be fitted into the case tray; are they fitted like a normal hard drive with screws each side or is there smaller case brackets that I'd have to buy in addition to the SSD?

Or are they better off outside the case and just connected to an external SATA port?

    Comments appreciated.

its a 2.5" so itd be the size of a laptop hard drive. You'd have to rig up some kind of bracket inside the case for it or find a hdd that is 3.5".

I think these are a bit of a waste of money to be honest, is the extra speed really worth the moolas?

SSD loaded with windows 7 will boot in about 5 seconds. Sounds worth it to me. A decent raid controller and a couple hard drives will cost just as much.

    Probably not.

There's many people who like a fast car or do mods for a little extra speed.

Fast bootup onya puter is very satisfying.

    Another fast

I think I can spare the extra 20 seconds of my life one or twice a day and spend that money on something else

I'm running a 120gb OCZ Vertex, and love it!

Craps all over my Western Digital Velociraptor drive that i used to have.

Careful in choosing a SSD drive, as some are actually not that fast!!!!!!!

Boot time is 7seconds, and all apps load a ton quicker....

    Cheers

No one's forcing you to buy one. Why do you drive a V8? It only gets to 100km/h 2 seconds faster than a V6. I think you could spare the extra 2 seconds of your life once or twice a day and could have spent your money on something else.

Faster bootup, faster load times for every application you open, well worth it for people who use their computers all day.
