i've been using a nokia 6600 for ages, bought it outright, it was never on contract, the sim isn't on 3g, just olden days style.
my GF just upgraded to an iphone, and her nokia 6110 navigator is free and not network locked, so i want it.
only thing is, according to wiki, it's
- Quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE: GSM/EDGE Quadband 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
- Singleband UMTS / HSDPA: W-CDMA 2100 MHz
- HSDPA 3.6 Mbit/s
but my phone now is
- Tri-band operation in GSM E900/1800/1900 networks
- HSCSD and GPRS, for internet/WAP access
i'm not going to be using the internets on it, i just don't know if it'll sting me more money for data coming differently, don't think my sim is 3G enabled anyway.
I have serious doubts they would mate. It's not like your paying for what kind of coverage you're on, you're paying for network usage ie. phone calls, text messages etc. I could be totally wrong here but I'm pretty sure it won't matter one bit.

cool, that's what i figured too. just didn't know if the calls/sms would come through counting as different data usage.
Calls and SMS are determined by your carrier's rates. As standard calls and basic SMS only use basic transfers which would be the same regardless of what phone you have. A $50 black and white screen and a $1000 Blackberry with the same sim card would incur the same charges for basic calls and SMS.
As for internet and MMS, that's where my understanding ends. HSPDA and 3G are obviously more advanced than GPRS, and using them may incur higher charges if they are standard on the phone.
But if you're not planning on using the net much if at all, disable it on the phone and you'll be fine![]()
