well the up and coming AvP game by sega that was going to be out early next year has been banned in australia due to the high level of violence and decapitation Aliens vs. Predator banned in Australia - News at GameSpot
..what next!
Yep and Sega have turned around and said **** you Australia, we wont be editing it for you.
I for one am very happy. As soon as more big name developers start giving us the finger and not editing their games to suit our religious nut of a South Australian Attorney the more we gamers are going to import copies from other PAL countries (England or sometimes even New Zealand for considerably less than in store cost might I add) and stop giving our business to major chains such as JB Hi Fi, GAME and EB Games. Once that starts going downhill they will put pressure on the government to change.
there is already pressure but its not enough and i will be importing a copy when its out because and im glad that there not changing it because of it
The only pressure so far is from gamers. There is currently a gamers party forming in Atkinsons electorate however its one of the safest labor seat in the country. Untill its a monetary threat there will be no pressure that will change the governments mind.
But yes I will also be importing the game like I did with L4D2.
lol they tax the shit out of cancer sticks maybe they would let these 'immoral' games through if they could slap a tax on them![]()
They allow the sale of R18 movies, why not games?
Atkinsons theory is that it will still find its way into children's hands and that it cannot be enforced.
Well by that theory neither can sale of R18 films, Cigarettes, Alcohol or things such as Spray Paint which you need an ID to purchase. This guy is an absolute moron who spouts nonsense about "cruel sex video games". The game he constantly uses in his arguments in a Japanese game called Rape-Play - a game developed in Japan which shows Anime Sex. The developers limited its release to ONLY Japan and even now it is banned there. To use this game as an example is moronic.
I think its ironic that Modern Warfare 2 has found its way onto our shelves as MA15+, yet EVERYWHERE else in the world where an R18+ classification is available, it is R18. The AAA titles are still making it onto our shelves because the Classification Board lets them slide. So instead of the game being sold as R18+ here, its being sold as MA15+ top work Atkinson, top work.
I think even the government is forgetting the difference between real life and a game. I wonder what would happen if someone makes a game a about smoking. I mean to the extreme. The more cigarets you smoke the more points you acquire, the aim will be to smoke the most before you die, online multiplayer passive smoking... i could go on![]()
Yeah the Classification Board is completely random in the way it bans games.
Blame it on Wii Sports, hopefully it get banned and we all end up a winner.
OH FOR ****S SACK!! ****ING HELL BLOODY GOVERMENT DOUCHEBAGS!!!
This is really getting stupid, and they wonder why people download illegal copies of these games... because they either can't get it here or they get a PG playschool version!!!
Grrr!
Wish these stupid pollies would stop trying to baby me and tell me what I can and can't do.
Why can't the bloody parents take responsibility for what their kids are doing rather than everyone being penalized just in case some stupid 14yo things GTA is real.
ebay te easy way to import![]()
just a quick update that the developer says that there not changing anything for australia Aliens vs. Predator won't be edited for Australia - News at GameSpot im very happy about that because it means that alot of people like me will import it and still play it
Yup. I hope more and more big names developers start giving us the finger.
