Removing software

hey fellas,

having a bit of trouble completly removing an antivirus program.
I used to use AVG for my antivirus but since got Mcafee antivirus and to install this i need to fully remove avg in order to proceed. this sounded pretty easy as i've done this before, the usual add/remove programs and uninstall AVG. so then i begun the installation of Mcafee again yet it still says avg is on my computer? so now my question is: how do i completly remove the program/the rest of it? i did a search of my computer and it doesnt show that AVG is still on here?

should mention this is on the old laptop still running xp lol, need to upgrade to windows 7 shortly, thats the next step.

download ccleaner then in its tools/uninstall you can uninstall it from there or if it still claims its there you can delete it from the registry(?) then it should work i've done it for a couple of mates
