Hey
Reinstalling XP home SP2 on dads computer.
It is a Optima Centoris v260
Had XP on it again but am doing a fresh install on it
Formatted the drive on my notebook (vista) through a Portable HDD inclosure.
Now am trying to install, when i turn it on without the disk and with the disk it shows the optima page and then the black screen, waits a second and then says:
![]()
EDIT: upon posting this that pic doesnt work for me now so if it doesnt work for you it says:
BOOTMGR MISSING
CTRL+ALT+DEL TO RESTART
Can anyone help me with this problem so i can install it.
Thanks in advance and rep to anyone that helps

You have erased the OS off the HDD, hence the missing boot loader, you need to boot off the Windows XP Cd, there should be an option on boot to select a different boot device or you can change the boot order in BIOS.

i completely formatted the drive. and i cant remember the P/word for the bios
have a look at the boot up sequence, it may say press a key to select a boot device

lol, now yer a bit screwedthere may be an F8 option when it POST's which will allow you to select another boot device.
try hitting F8 on post.
ARI, tried that with no luck..
Just reformatted the drive and still no luck.. im going to have to try to reset the BIOS P/word...
thanks
Also see if it comes up with an option for which device to boot from when you first start up, similiar to getting into the BIOS. Usually only last's a couple of seconds.
Your BIOS has a password? I don't think I've come across that before. Then again I have only played with PC's I'm no tech.
yeah sounds like clr cmos it is. hope you know what your doing
ps. taking the button battery out doesnt always work. if you have not got a clr cmos jumper and you can pop your battery out, you might have to bridge the two battery terminals together to get rid of residue voltage in the capacitors.
ive done it loads of times and no broken p.c's so far. i usually just stick the pihillips head in the holder and join the little flappy bit (+) with the othside bit. (-)
