unlock a samsung s5233s

Hi all,
my phone fell out of my pocket and i ran over it with a mower earlier today. I found one of the sims intact. Its my optus sim that i have had the same number for years.
I have a samsung star s5233s thats locked to virgin(had its sim in my other phone but didnt find it). Does anyone know how to unlock it?
I tried doing a search but the sites i looked at saying free unlock codes wanted money.
I dont want to pay if possible.

Any help appreciated.

Virgin and Optus are the same company, if you put your Optus sim in you're virgin phone it should work.
