Hey guys,
Hoping someone can help, today i ran a cable from the kitchen (from the adsl modem) through the roof to a bedroom at the other end of the house (study room) as previously the cable was sticky taped to the roof and looked ugly. Wired them up per diagram on the keystone using a proper punch down tool and made sure they have same wiring configuration on both ends. I have triple checked the wiring and redone the connections twice already but i still can not get it to work, no link lights at all, I tested the patch leads either end and they work fine.
I have read that patch leads (which is what I used and cut the connectors off the ends) uses stranded copper wire and is not suitable for keystone jacks and wont make a good contact, is this correct? Tomorrow I am going to buy 20 odd metres of solid copper core cat5e but just checking to see if anyone know's if this should fix the problem or not to waste my money.
Cheers
