Default Call of Duty: Black Ops

This looks like it will be fun. Good to see Infinity Ward was dumped.

I reckon this will be awesome for the die hard Call of Duty fans, however I reckon the Medal of Honour based on the trailer might do it for me, I'll definately be purchasing both games!

Not so sure that this is gonna be any good ... Treyarch did "Call of Duty: World at War" in between Infinity Ward's Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 1 and 2. World at War was total crap.
However I have my fingers crossed that Black Ops is better!

I get the feeling you don't like the Modern Warfare series from Infinity Ward?

i agree with you, infinity ward are the makers of call of duty 1,2,mw1,mw1 and they have done an excellent job of them all, only let down was mw2 with their servers but besides that its a really good game.

as said, Treyarch did call of duty 5 and and it was the biggest let down, it was like a no frills version so we will have to wait and see what the next one is like.

I enjoyed World at War. I liked MW 1, enjoyed MW 2, the choice to go non dedicated servers in MW2 destroyed it for me. Being an ex soldier, it is probably the better range of games when it comes to this sort of thing.

Black Ops is getting dedicated servers for online play, which is awesome.

how ever.. activision is tinkering with the idea of making it pay to play.

Think about most online mmorpg's (massively multiplayer online role playing games, example - World of Warcraft) You pay for the game yet still pay a monthly fee. And they still have a multi-million user fanbase.

That would be a deal breaker for me and I'm sure many others, I guess for me, I enjoy playing COD on ps3 etc, but I wouldnt go to say that I enjoy it enough to justify paying extra to play online. I think they should go with the old 'if it aint broke dont fix it' theme, the COD franchise has been largely succesful without the P2P layout, a move to P2P suggests to me pure greed. Surely, they could factor a small one off cost for ongoing maintenance of the servers?

yeh i gotta agree. if they did do p2p its for pure greed, they made millions off mw2 they broke records of how much money they made off that game alone... so they really dont need money..but im sure they have somthing up their sleeve

Treyarch did a good job with World at War. The maps were a little boring in MP, but it played well as far as local connections and the mixed style of gameplay, whereas MW2 is a insane camp fest mixed with lag. Infinity Ward can go jump, I hope Treyarch does pull out a good game because if this one isnt good, Call of Duty is done for me.

And yes, Activision have been thinking about going P2P for a while. Remember - they are connected with Blizzard, they know how to scrounge every dime out of customers.

As a world of warcraft player i can see where they're coming from with this pay to play thing, with world of warcraft the level of support is outstanding and new content comes for free at least a couple of times in one expansion, so hopefully if cod moves to pay you would get free map packs and levels every few months instead of having to buy them like you do now. WoW is around 50 cents a day which is pretty pricey imo.
