iP OS4 on iP 3G

Ive read everywhere that OS4 can be installed on the 3G but it wont let me.

Has anyone done it yet?

I was pretty sure it was by all the hype on the interweb, googling iphone OS 4 on 3g comes with lots of stuff

If you can't get it through itunes then its not out to the public release. Anything else floating around will be the developer version. Suggest you read up on whirlpool in the 4.0 firmware thread then.

I can't live without sbsettings on the jb. Without it there are too many menus to dig through to toggle stuff on/off.

I had a jb on 3.1.2 but wasn't worth going to 3.1.3. There's a few things in iOS4 that were in previous jailbreaks, so it's good to see Apple take some of it in.

Not too bad at all really. Alot of people have complained it is slow and laggy without a JB, but mine seems snappier than it was before. With the JB you can enable multitasking and background wallpapers as well, although Apples idea of multitasking is one big FAIL really.

multitasking fail? Don't think so -> Depends if you value your battery life ... or not.

By fail I meant mutlitasking is actually "freeze an app" or just provide a shortcut to the most recently used apps. It doesn't actually allow apps running at the same time unless the developer has written it that way.

Strangely my blackberry seems to handle the concept quite well

Yeah, they claimed that multitasking doesnt use anymore battery or use anymore power (not battery, CPU power)

Oh well, Im used to the apple tone now. I went for like a year with the original ringtone and then changed it to the benny hill theme song.

Either way, it is just a way of letting you know something is happening.

I make custom ringtones all the time, but now that EVERYONE has an iphone, when someone gets a msg, you don't know who just got it coz they are all the same. PS, on my jailbroken iphone I have a selection of mario msg tones Retro coolness!

Just put os4 on my 3gs.. BUT when u use to 'double click' the home button it used to show my favourite phone list.. now i cant do that.. kinda gave me the shits first couple of time, but got over it,, zoom on camera is handy, and mail folders, i find it to be a bit faster in processing stuff aswell

I found out about the zoom today, i thought that was for 3GS only
