well, what more can i say. ive changed over to a imac, why you ask. reasons below

basicaly, this computer simply works, it does all the normal functions that the microsoft system does, but quicker. there is no waiting 5 mins or so for it to start up, turn it on, and wait a few seconds, and bingo, it's working.

screen quality is briliant. and to top it all off, this thing simply works.

anyone else out there changed from pc to mac? im impressed, very very impressed.

Been using a Mac for about 6 years. Awesome machines and don't have to worry about pesky stuff such as spyware, malware and anti-virus crap!

As far as games go, you can put Windows on a Mac via Boot Camp and your Windows games will run on it under Windows, just the same as any PC. In regards to photo editing, there's Photoshop which is regarded as the industry standard in regards to image editing, and that runs on both Mac and Windows. Costs a bomb though.

My brother has both systems running and is now a fan of the mac just for it's boot time - seconds. Microsoft fail with boot time. A freind does medical graphics posters and has been using macs all along.

Main issue with macs is simply the cost - way too much for what they do for the average family.

Yes this is true but the Macs value for money has gotten alot better over the last few years, I-Macs are very competitively priced!! Mac Pros (tower) are still way to expensive unless you need it for work ect.

There was a David Jones mis-print in a catalog recently and they were HONOURING IT!!! The 27 inch iMac for $1600. I wish I had known about it. The main reason I won't buy one is the ridiculous price they charge. I can get MUCH BETTER PERFORMANCE from a PC for about half the price. But they are beautiful peices of equipment.

Yep, you pay for the excellent OS and superb customer service mate. You do have to remember with the iMac there is no need to buy a Display (The iMacs have a LED display) which makes the price a little more reasonable.

Lol. Don't start a mac vs pc debate. A great example of customer service by Apple is how they are dealing with their angry iPhone 4 users. Don't see why the high cost goes towards paying for the OS. You can get free copies of Linux that wouldn't be much different. Apples version of an error message is just a random spinning circle if i'm not mistaken?

Linux all the way. I've got an ibook, a windows pc, and a dual boot linux (ubuntu)/windows 7 pc (i've also got a netbook running ubuntu netbook remix). The ibook is expensive for what you get, and its still a very basic computer. Windows boot/shutdown times are ridiculous, and as much as 7 is light years ahead of XP it still feels restrictive to use.

To get linux to work 100% you do need some basic-intermediate computer knowledge but there are also guides on how to do most things on the internet. I fail to see why you would want to pay for an OS these days when linux is up to par with the others (MAC and linux are both based off the same fundamentals anyway, so they have a similar feel). It even comes with a 'software centre' app so you can easily find and download any software you need.

Im not stating a debate mate lol. Im just stating my opinion as i work on both platforms on a professional level. Not getting into the iPhone 4 argument either as even the old 3GS phones loses signal when held in the same way. Sure linux may be free but Apple take that great OS and make it USER FRIENDLY. Say what you want about the prices, the market share that Apple holds on various products speaks for itself.

Mistaken indeed. The spinning circle was a problem in Mac OS 9, that is the oldest argument in the book about macs, which is very outdated.

Back on topic, i do use a mac, i am also a computer technician, personally i prefer to use my macbook air. Have been using macs for about 3 years now. How can i go wrong... a unix based OS that still runs all my favourite programs, and the quality of the unibody design with a backlit keyboard mmmmm.

I have just bought an mac I have never used one before and I'm not really a computer person, it is so easy to use and so quick. Plus I love the 27inch screen. It was expensive but for what I can see and I've only had it for 2 days I think it's going to be worth it. The facial recognition software for the iPhoto software is awesome.

I work with mac's all day

Fact-imac's use intel stuff, western digital harddrives, and a few other peace's and they start from 2200.
Fact-same computer from acer or hp -1400 ish - do the math

people who use bootcamp on a mac pay an xtra 1000 just todo the same thing -fail

Mac's are good for privet use only

The catholic education office (my employer) Decided for the government laptop grant they would buy 30,000 macbooks
have you every tried to bound macbooks to a ad server it's useless due to the bugs in macbooks and apple refuse to listen So you will buy a apple server

Microsoft on the other hand window's 7 is a very stable operating system 5/7 of the worlds best hackers say mac osx is more vulnerable to virus's and security threats then window's 7 now!

and the whole reason i'm bitching there is none 15 mins till i get to go home and Can't wait slowest day of my life.

Mac's are good for people that only want it for simple functions like music (awesome recording quality) and art\movies (same quality as any normal pc)
But as for "boot time" you will get the same thing if you fork out the same cash for any pc with a microsoft os..
Personally i prefer to stay far away from outlets when handing over cash for things like this, you can build a computer twice as good and for half the price when you know what you are doing.
Apple always make a big deal of things that they bring out, like when the iphone first come out "it can surf the net blah blah blah download music, watch vids on youtube".... That shit was old technology, i was doing that with my 7250i nokia back in 2003
i'm not tailgating, i'm keeping up with the pace car
