Ok, so when my last HDD decided to die I replaced it with a 1TB HDD. I am running Windows XP and when we chucked the 1TB HDD in, XP refused to recognise the 1TB HDD as 1TB and saw it as a 100gig.
So far it hasnt presented me with a problem, however it appears now my Anti Virus refuses to update because there is not enough free space on my HDD to do so - although there is probably a good 800 gig left
How does one fix this?
Possible this is a motherboard issue?

Pretty sure its something to do with the latest XP service pack.
Update it and go from there.
Oh and before you do that right click on your desktop icon " My Computer " and select manage button and see if it actualy shows in your device listing under " Disk Management "
Press rescan discs, to make sure its not recognised.
Ahh ok Roger that.
