I Need A Nerd
okay, so my problem is that my laptop mouse is ####ed...i have the touchpad one and in the keyboard is that little ball thingyo that you move around..my laptop is a lenovo t400...the mouse (either one i use) will constantly highlight anything it goes over
even trying to move the mouse across my desktop it highlights everything, im using an external mouse at the moment and everything is fine, no virus's, entire computer is up to date as far as software upgrades go.
sometimes it will even open stuff up when i click nothing if it's highlighted

Sounds like you're accidentally tapping on the trackpad which registers as a click on the computer.
you could try adjusting the sensitivity of the trackpad.

tried all of that..been through allll the configuration settings for the mouse and it's done 2 parts of #### all...i've had this laptop for about 2 years now and had no problems till now...hence why im getting the shits

hey this may sound weird: the missus' mac hates me, and whenever i have one finger on the button and another finger scrolling on the track pad it goes ape-shit, same as your describing.
tried using only one finger? it sucks when you need to highlight.

Its one of those little gay red things in the middle of the keyboard that IBM's use correct?
If it is, remove the red cap and clean it, and move the bit without the cap on it, replace cap.
If its broken, you can replace the whole keyboard, there not overly expensive on Ebay etc for a replacement.

both my trackpoint (little red thing in the middle) and my ultranav (so they call it, it's just the touchpad mouse) do the same thing, highlights everything opens shit randomly, i hate it...my brothers a IT dude but i don't think i'll be seeing him anytime soon haha
