Hey All.
OSX Lion 10.7 Is arriving in July Next Month.
It Will only be available through the App Store, Apple are not releasing a DVD upgrade, Download only.
To upgrade you must meet the following requirements.
Your Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 or Xeon processor to run Lion & Make sure you have the latest version of Snow Leopard.
Any Questions just ask :-)
Not at all happy about them only distributing it through the App Store...while I could understand them doing it with iLife, iWork and other software, something like an operating system is far too important to be distributed via such a method...with the developer releases there are currently ways to burn a bootable DVD, I just hope that there will still be a way with the final version...going to be very annoyed if they won't let me build a bootable DVD or USB drive.

Apple - iOS 4.3 Software Update
I got an iPhone 4 and sometimes the centre button doesn't work when I press it I have to push it a few times for it to acknowledge an I'm no where near rough with it. Is this common ?

Hey Mate
Its not so called common with the 4s, But its generally the button that fails.
If it is still under Warranty, Call apple or pop into a Apple store for a replacement.
If its out of warranty, If your game you can try to replace it.

Hi there. I have an iMac27 and I was updating a few things the other night and mid install the power was cut to the house for a few minutes obviously causing the Mac to turn off....
Now when I go to start it up all I get its the white screen with the grey apple sign and the spinning gear.
It usually starts this way but only is it like this for a few moments is the load screen visible.
I left it last Friday night on the loading screen and went to the club praying it had sorted itself out but 4 hours later it was still doing the same thing.
I have Windows 7 pertishioned on half of my mac and I can actually boot this OS when I select and hold the option key but still nothing when I select OS-X.
I have tried to boot it with the install CD in and holding c, I have also tried the PRAM start but get nothing.
Any idea what I do from here..
Please help![]()
Hi Mate.
Its pretty common issue that, Installing updates then the power going out. The system becomes corrupt because it failed to install.
So, Do the same thing by booting off the installer DVD. Once its booted off the disc, and clicked English to the main menu, you will see on the top menu bar a drop down menu that says utilities, Click and in the menu bar you will see disk utility. Open disc utility, you should then see this.
Click your hard drive same as this pic. Now click repair permissions. After that has completed, click repair Disk also and wait till its complete.
Now reboot the imac and try again.
Failing this, You will need to reinstall OSX. Again, boot off the DVD, Then follow the setup wizard. Note this will just reinstall OSX. your data should be fine.
Yeah Im not able to boot it with the DVD at all.. Does nothing but spit it out after a minute or two....
Ah ok Mate, Well Try once you hear the machine chime. Hold down the option key like you would to boot into Windows, When you see the 2 drives show up, put the disc in, then see if it will read and show up then. If it still spits it out, check and make sure the disc is clean.
ok, yeah tried that just now and it spat the dvd out again. Tried it another two times after I gave the disc a good clean and it still spat it out...I
think its pretty rooted....
Is it the exact DVD 1 Install that came with the computer ? Also do you have a External USB DVD drive ? If so give that a Go. if the Drive is spitting out the DVD the drive is unable to read the disc. There could be a chance your DVD drive might be faulty as well if its failing to read the Disc.
hey mate,
got a new macbook pro couple of months back, hooked up to the wireless net in our house, though i cannot stay on it for longer than 5 minutes without getting thrown off! in network diagnostics all the little green lights, the bottom two 'internet' & 'server' fail and turn red. i literally cant go longer then max 10minutes before this happens. tried following the diagnostics in there but no luck, my mum has a desktop PC and one of those tiny PC notebooks and she doesnt have any issues at all.. she only has issues when i have my laptop on, and i get thrown off the net, the router comes up as a red light too......
any ideas? cause it is giving me the absolute shits!!!!! and because my mum has no issues i figured its not a router problem, but something to do with my laptop....
Hey Mate.
To start with. Try creating a new Network location. Go to System Prefs/Network/ & Click Locations, Click Edit, Then click the Plus button and create a new location. S
See how you go with that mate, Failing that. Set to the modem up from scratch again. IE Reset it to factory defaults holding the reset button down for 10-15 seconds, be sure to have all your modem details so you can enter them back in.
If it still disconnects, try another wireless network at a mates place and see how you go. If it works fine, you can rule out the MacBook Pro, then you can confirm its your own network. How old is the modem ? If its old might be a idea to upgrade it to wireless N.
I have seen this a few time with a few clients and we have had to upgrade the modem. Hope this gives you a few ideas to start with.
cheers mate, ill sus it out
hi
i got MCB pro i5 dual core and upgraded to OS Lion ,but since i did the upgrade the mac's processing speed has decresed
and also do we need to install any anti virus for mac's as i do use alot of internet and download torrents and do file sharing .
at the moment i got peer guardian install to hide my ip address .Do u reckon i need to install anything ellse to be safe while using all these programmes
Hey Mate.
With Lion, I Personally have not had much of a chance to use it yet, So not to sure with the bugs it still has. OSX Lion is more processor hungry and RAM hungry, like any new OS it will use more resources.
And with Anti Virus, I dont use anything and i have been to every possible risky site and no problems, so long as you dont enter any personal details into anything unless its a verified online store. dont worry.
Only known virus or malware is called mac defender, but you still have to install it via a password and clicking agree to install.
Hey, I just wanted to ask, I have a MacBook, it's a 13.3" and a 2007 model. Is it possible to replace the screen on it? I noticed the other day that there is a crack towards the middle from top to bottom, and it's the actual LCD part itself.
If it is fixable, would it be worth it or should I just save up and get a new one instead.
Thanks.
Hey Mate.
Yes it is possible to remove and replace the LCD on the macbook. If you have a good set of small screw drivers, and a flat blade plastic tool, you could do it. its quite a long job to do. As it require to remove the whole assembly from the computer first. So pretty much the whole machine has to be dissembled.
A New LCD - http://www.macfixit.com.au/shop/inde...&productId=195
So Its 189$ for a new LCD, plus fitting if you can do it your self. Or Just put that money towards a new MacBook Pro. Since its a 2007 Modal its now going on 4-5 years old now.
If you wanted to buy a OEM Apple LCD they are about 700$![]()
And no there is not short cut way to do this either due to the inverter cables that run into the bottom of the LCD housing.
Hey mate,
Thanks very much for the fast reply. I do have a screwdriver set that I should be able to use to pull it apart, but like you said, it is getting old now and it hasn't got the best hardware (like it only has a 80GB HDD, 1 GB Ram, 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo), so I might save up and just get a new MacBook Pro. Plus for some reason it wont let me update it anymore, gets half way and just freezes.
Thanks for that link, and thanks for your help as well![]()

MY DAILY NOW WITH ECOTEC CONVERSION
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ml#post2145177
Hi Mate.
Sorry the extream delay, Been working 60 hours a week at the moment.
You Really need to to have the OS Reinstall DVDs. Did you get them when you bought the machine ? They will be grey. You need these to wipe and reinstall the OS, This will wipe everything on the drive.
If you dont, You can just create a new User in system preferences, create a New admin account, then once logged in, delete the old user in user system perferences. This will only delete the user data and not applications or files on the root directory.
