no wait! I will soon be in possession of an ipod touch 2nd gen that has a crack screen - yes the actual screen including the digitiser. Fairly sure it's out of warranty / wouldn't be covered anyway, also the audio jack apparently doesnt work too well, how much am I looking at to get you to fix it ?

OK, For Starters, I Know as much as you do when apple are releasing or fixing shit. DNS Issues with 10.5.6, How about updating it to 10.5.8, run behind of course you will have issues, considering, we are now on 10.6.4,
Active directory issues on a network named .local, SOrry mate but never seen any issues here.
As for the Dead Pixels, You will Find EVERY SINGLE maker of LCDs have the same rule when it comes to dead pixels and depends how big the screen is to how many must have failed, what color they are also. I Think apple have a much lower allowance then others when it comes to how many must have failed.
And yes Apple are releasing if not have already made a fix for the iPhone daylight savings.

Hey Mate, Thankyou for a more sensible question.
Problem with the iPod touches, they are a hell of alot harder to replace the Digitiser, We have attempted a few at work and they have clips on the inside, that basically break, we have broken most touches attempting this, so we not longer try to repair them. Sorry. And the headphone jack is another complex one we also dont do as removing the glass brakes them .
Apple are great for making everything impossible to repair.

Dropped my Iphone flat on its back the other week. No damage to cover or outer screen but LCD gone blank. Touch Screen still works.....

Would that just be a replacement LCD? need to get it looked at but would be nice to know what I'm up against

Hey Mate, When its blank do you mean its just white? or just nothing on the screen at all?
How do you know the touch screen still works if the Screen is bank?
If so the LCDs are i think $89 plus $70 to fit them. If the new screen is still blank its the logicboard for the whole phone thats screwed, and you cant get a replacement.

No worries lol. May give it a go myself, and Just get a replacement home button,frame, digister everything. and replace the screen as well. Is the screen glued in and plug in connectors?

Generally in most cases if the screen is just white its the Controller board in the iPhone. As the backlights in the screen still work, But the COntroller board is no longer providing video to the screen. We have never had a screen fail to just white its always been the board in the phone.

Theres nothing hard about the audio jack as such, its just we dont just do the audio jack as you damage the screen removing it. But since your removing the screen thats already broken should be no drama, i would pull it apart first, see what you break and dont break, then order the parts you need. You can visit Your Page Title, and go to youtube and check out some how tos on pulling them apart :-)

Just ordered all the parts off ebay, $54 in total. For the entire LCD & Glass assembly, the screen its-self, digitiser glass, mid frame & home button assembly. Also ordered the audio jack replacement and flex cable and the opening tools.

Do you know if its easy to replace the once shiny backing?

Hey mate, I have a 3 year old macbook, The only issue it has is it has stopped reading and writing CD's. DVD's work fine to read and write. Just want to know if that is an easy fix or if the drive needs to be replaced. Cheers.

It can be a problem replacing the backing from memory the Battery is glued to the inside of it, and you risk puncturing the battery trying to pry it up.

Does the drive just eject the CDs? Failing to read them? If so yes the Laser has failed and is unable to read that type of media. We know its not a communication issue as it reads DVDs. So It would need to be replaced.

You can find a new drive here, We have used a few of these at work and they are fine. Its not too much of a task to replace. Or you could go for a external USB DVD drive, Cheaper option

Hey Guys,

We just got the new macbook airs in at work, can check them out here - Apple - MacBook Air - The next generation of MacBooks.
The Specs may seem to look like a disappointment, Like only a 1.4Ghz C2D with the 11" MBA, As it has the flash drive, its bloody quick, It takes about 15 seconds to boot, much quicker then any macbook pro that has a standard 7200 2.5" drive. Its so nice and light to carry around, and green screen rez, almost the same as the old 15" Macbook pros, small screen but can still fit alot on the screen. for the price i like it.

The cons though, Has no backlit keyboard, so on a plane with the lights out, your going to have troubles seeing the KB, The microphone is on the side, so if you carrying it around and talking to some one, not going to hear you as your hand covers it. Also does not have a light sensor so the screen brightness does not self adjust to light.
Besides those minor things, its a great quick little machine, iv tried the small PCs in the same market and they are just dog shit slow.
and dont say oh it does not have a optical drive, i cant even remember the last time i used my drive on my macbookpro, its a almost dead technology to a lot of people, its all blueray FTW lol

Ok I got a question... Might not be to relevant to your work, but its worth asking.

The motherboard in my HP laptop fried, which was soon replaced with another laptop. The problem is that I lost all of my music amongst other things.

The thing is Ive got all the music still on my iphone. Is their any way I can transfer the music out of my iphone into my new laptop? Because itunes just wants to sync with my new laptops playlists and wipe of the old stuff.
