I've started playing through it the other day. I found the cowboy repeater or the hunting rifle targeted on the noggin does a good job on the ghouls. As for radscorpions, small ones are pretty easy, as for normal ones if you stay on the move and have enough bullets you can knock em out as they can't seem to quite catch up if you keep running and I avoid the giant ones at all costs.

Can't say I've had too many bugs happen. Did have one problem when I first stated playing with white flashes at the edge of textures but once that was sorted out its been pretty smooth sailing. Have heard of some pretty out there bugs though, including rotating heads but theres a patch out thats supposed to sort out a few things.

I don't worry about bugs too much though, don't think I've ever had a game that didn't have it's share of problems. Most decent games get patched up pretty quick as it is.

Yeah, I loved Fallout 3 and put up with its numerous issues, bad screen tearing, the occasional bug etc. But this game is horrendously buggy. If you want to play it I would suggest waiting a while and getting it on PC. The PC modding community seems to fix it faster than Bethseda.

I loved Fallout 3 as well. I knew if I looked at it as a sequel to the first two I'd end up dissappointed in it as I imagine a lot of people were. I tried to see it more as a fresh take on the same old Fallout universe and I think that made it much more enjoyable. I applied the same thinking to Fallout: Tactics when it came out and enjoyed that a lot as well.

As for New Vegas, I much prefer it to FO3. It seems to have more of the dark humor and pop culture references that were in the original two than what FO3 did. It feels more involved too, with skills making a much bigger impact on gameplay. I fortunately haven't had too many issues with bugs with on New Vegas or FO3. Heard a lot of bad bugs are coming up for New Vegas on the 360 and PS3, PC release is supposed to be a lot more stable particularly with the patch out.

Running the PC release myself and the only bugs I've had was from poor implementation of Antialiasing causing flashing along texture edges on nvidia 400 series cards. The other is some sort of save game corruption when saving in The King's base in freeside.

Took a quick search on Google and the flashing issue was sorted 5 mins later. I do get some hefty lag in The Thorn which I assume is from all those flaming barrels but I'm running it at a higher graphics level than I should be anyway.

Yeah for the PC community its a much more tolerable game merely because the support from modders is there, and it seems to be easier to get a PC patch out.

What I didnt like about Fallout 3 and is something wrong with most of Bethseda's games not just Fallout 3 is the level of travel.

Fallout 3 you had to travel extremely large distances to get anywhere and if you didnt have the fast travel point it was a nightmare. I dont mind a nice open world, it was just the fact that when you did have to walk literally across the map there was very little on the way to break it up and it was one of the reasons I stopped playing Oblivion - walk for 10 minutes, Oh look a level 1 rat, walk for another 10 minutes to the next town.

Seems in NV there is a bit more in the way of breaking up that open world.
