I have of late notice I see to be downloading abit, well for me it is. Just wondering what you guys get upto. I`m on adsl1 8mb.
Last month I downloaded
Month Received Sent Total Dial-up
2011 Mar 941 GB 467 GB 1408 GB None
We get about 20GB a month and pay through the nose for it, because thanks to Telstra we can only get ADSL 1.5mb connection, thank-you rim setup. ADSL 1 is about twice to three times more expensive than ADSL 2+.

Now with my very own Tech2....YAY.
I have a 50gb plan - I use 10-20gb a month.
what THE HELL do you download to use almost 1.5TB?
VZ Thunder - 424RWKW Turbocharged V8 - Parts by AKO Performance
467GB uploads??? thats enormous.. unless you are a server offering downloads or you are filesharing in a big way that is pretty unlikely.
941G is pretty incredible for downloads too, and on only 8mb connection it would be something of an achievement to even get the total 1.4TB through the lines in a month...
I have 20mb down and 2mb up (and I dont live in the city acarmody !!!) 200GB adsl2+ for $88I'm lucky enough to live very close to the exchange too, and I have an actual line speed of 16mb.
I would consider myself a heavy user, my computer is a server hosting a number of websites, and I probably only average 60GB monthly.
I download movies, but mostly through Telstra, sadly I am stuck with them if I want speed and speed (particularly upload speed) is vital to me since I host a few websites. Smallpuddle movies don't count toward quota so that probably saves me 30 or 40 GB monthly, but that would still only bring me up to 100GB. That includes uploads too, I think Smallpuddle are the only ISP that includes uploads in quota?
Unless you are operating a server or you spend 27hrs daily downloading torrents (filesharing would also push up your uploads) I think I would be checking with your ISP and demanding an explanation.
I would be a bit worried about what kind of deal I had too. If I went 1.2TB past my 200GB quota with Telstra, the bill would be over 2 grand....

Nah I download complete tv series and blu ray rips
Telstra are the only ISP I know of that still charge for excess downloads. Everyone else just throttles your speed til the end of the month.
Nearly 1TB of downloads in a month is certainly achievable through torrents, you could download every linux iso ever made, or every episode of multiple tv shows in full HD etc...And I would say it's a fair call for there to be 400+GB of uploads with 950+GB of downloads. Also, since when do we have 27 hour days?
At our place we use ADSL2+ Off-net through TPG. It's more expensive than normal ADSL2+, but it was the only option besides ADSL 8MB for around the same price, so why not. We get 200GB off peak and 100GB peak at around 20MB/2MB, and I usually use around 150-200gb total in a month.
Obviously with the same ISP I am, also ps3games just keep getting bigger![]()
*jaw drops* thats a huge amount.
we have a 20gb plan and dont even use half of it! =P
Have 2 invites to a private torrent site (digital hive) if anyone's interested. Pm my your email address
That is quite a bit of data passing through your modem lol. I got 3 computers and 2 laptops hooked up to our network and I doubt we could reach that figure...

Wouldn't be too suprised if your modem packed it in soon. A lot of the basic home routers/modems can't handle the excessive amounts of activity that torrenting demands.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
we did 386gb last month (total up and down) we thought that was allot haha you are the king!!!
I have filled my 300TB velociraptor drive almost completely with stuff I haven't sorted into folders on my storage drives.

I guess it might be physically possible to get 1.4 TB through on an 8mb connection in a month but you would have to be trying pretty hard lol..
one blue ray movie uncompressed is 25GB or so.. so you want 37 of those in one month to use your 940GB download.. and about half as many uploading as well.. or the equivalent in god know what else you may be downloading. Does anyone really do that?
Its a question only 1_johnboy can answer though.. do you download as much as that or not? if you do, wow, but no problem youve answered your own question. If you dont, obviously something is wrong..
Which again leaves me the question.. that means 18 50GB games downloaded monthly? You play a new game every 2 days? Gimme a break lol
Easy to do, for example. Two things last month I downloaded ER- Complete series 108gb, Simpsons Complete seriers 81gb, X-men movies 1080p 48gb, Star Wars 1080p-48gb. Just 4 download alone is Close on 300gb, there the main ones. Always have 3-4 10gb 1080p rips downloading and the average TV seriers is 40-50gb.
I manage this amount each months since with the new ISP
