HTC Incredible S
Ok so next year in February my current contract runs out for my iPhone 3GS and I've been looking at getting an HTC Incredible S. I've looked for AGES at comparisons, specs, pros/cons etc, and I've had a play with both phones, and have to say I like the HTC alot better than the iPhone. The differences that would effect me are of course the plans for starters. Apple is clearly grabbing at cash for their plans, and for the data/call allowance I want (It's like $450 calls w/ 2.5gb data) it's $80/month for an iPhone 4 while only roughly $70 for the HTC. I had a play with one today, actually, an HTC that is, and I do LOVE the camera. Yes I know that you can't really justify 8MP on a phone screen, but blown up the pictures are awesome to say the least, though the only downside is filming or taking photos in dark environments, even with the flash you have to get it juuuust right otherwise grains attack! The iPhone, however, seems to take great quality photos, but they still rate a little under HTC's, and iPhone's advanced retina bullsh-t is great and all, except the size of the screen defeats the point & you would need something the size of an iPad to take advantage of this costly feature.
My main reason for this post is, have any of you got an HTC Incredible S? If so, how do you rate it compared to any other smart phones you've seen or used etc, or how do you rate it in general? I'm most likely going to buy one anyway, maybe off eBay cos' it's like $300 cheaper that way, but I would like others' opinions on the phone, if anyone has one.

I have a HTC desire HD, I chose it over an iPhone 4 and think its great. so much more customizable and it is set up great.
However, you say you have until February next year? by then there will be newer HTC models and by then the range of competitors will have grown massively so it is probably best to suss it out alot closer to the time.
btw, the 8mp camera is worth it! takes amazing photos

Lol yeah I keep forgetting that it's only May still, well I guess you could say March now, but yeah I might hold off until closer to christmas and see what they come out with

I switched from a Desire HD to an iPhone4 and gave my Desire to my daughter. Now she has an iPhone4, and I have my Desire back.
I think the first thing that put me off about the iPhone is I tried to set an alarm on the first day and got told I had to pay $1.19 for an alarm app.
OK, I later found free ones too but how mercenary is that of Apple to try to make you pay for an alarm that should come free with the overpriced piece of fragile crap it is anyway..
The Desire is easier to use, easier to customise and tough as nails. HTC make great phones, but there is no point at all in shopping yet, nothing you are looking at now will even exist in February.

The fact that the iPhone has a glass screen turned me off too, a lot of people break theirs

I like my iphone, I have alot of games I play in tafe on it, bluetooth is pretty good for Headunits too. If you look after it the screen wont break. I've dropped mine shitloads of times but i have a little cover on it that does wonders. Most of the time i catch it with my foot though, haven't dropped it in months tho.

Why dont apple use the gorilla glass like my sgs. I dropped it once from 6 foot onto the road and the rear went flying and it skidded face first for a bit. Not a mark, that gorilla glass is awesome.

I gotta' admit, though, my iPhone 3gs has been dropped a million times at work, and has even endured one of those drops where you try to catch it with your foot to soften the landing but you actually end up kicking it further or harder lol but yeah my screen is still okay, the outer casing however is scratched as sh-t and there's crap under my screen, like dirt and stuff but the screen itself it pretty tidy.

Personally I prefer it over my iPhone, easier to use clearer picture And fits in my hand easier lol
Also hers is on a plan about a third of what mine costs and gets a fair wack for her money
