Hi,
i have a toshiba tecra m2 laptop which had the hard drive replaced at the end of last year.
ever since then, i haven't been able to adjust the brightness of the screen. when i press and hold the Fn button and then f6 or f7,it doesnt do anything.
none of the F buttons do anything actually except for f5 so i was wondering if anyone knows why that would be?
im not to good with computers but i was told it probably needs the driver installed for it all or something???
if so,anyone know which driver? ive had a search on google but theres so many different drivers and i dont want to mess something up.
Another odd thing is when i press the space bar, the cursor jumps up the screen, not to worried about it though but a fix for that would be pretty sweet also...
Thanks
hmm, what if you go into control panel then go into system/security and click on power options? surely you can adjust the brightness from there?
i havent got my laptop on me so i cant check
Go to the Toshiba website and locate the support section. The drivers for your laptop should be in there (just enter the model number) and download then run the driver installer. That should fix the problem, it sounds as though whoever replaced the hdd didn't reinstall all the drivers when they installed the OS.
Not being able to use the FN keys after having the hard drive replaced sounds like a driver issue to me. Go here: Support :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more and select your system (Tecra M2). Your product code will be on the sticker on the bottom (a code starting with PT), then select your operating system (if you're not sure, you can find out via the System control panel), "Toshiba Controls" sounds like the one you need.
