Default 2011 Macbook Pro or 2011 Macbook Air

    Hey all,

Time for an upgrade, Dont even tell me shit about windows.
My Gaming/Windows rig is a Windows desktop.
My portable/work rig is a Macbook.

So, The new 2011 Macbook air is out, and it is fairly impressive...
The 2011 Macbook is pretty nice, but already about 4months old, Doesnt ship with Lion either and to get it upto the responsiveness of the Macbook Air, I'd need to buy an SSD.

So, Discuss... Which should HoZy buy?

    Cheers

You can no longer buy the MacBook, Apple have discontinued It.

IMO Go The MacBook Air, They are such a great little machine, Super Light and Super Quick. From Power button to desktop is like 3 seconds lol

Go The 13", Find The 11" Just a bit too small

Edited - Reads MacBook, But Tittle MacBook Pro lol
MBP Nice Machine, But If you dont need to read Media with a optical drive, MBA better machine.

The MBA is a very nice machine, but the one thing that does concern me a bit about it, is that you can only order it with a max of 4GB of RAM, and it cannot be upgraded. Thats fine if you buy a new machine fairly regularly, but I personally like to keep my machine for a few years before replacing it (I'm currently typing this on a late 2007 MacBook that I intend to keep for another 18 months at least), and while 4GB is plenty for most people today, thats not always going to be the case, and I personally would not buy a new machine today that is not upgradable to at least 8GB.

Because of that I'd probably go for the MBP...yes it is a bit more bulky, and no its not as "sexy" as the MBA, nor is it as much of a status symbol, but at least its a bit more future-proof, having upgradable RAM and a standard SATA HDD/SSD.

I would say,, MCB pro is the way to go.... had the i5 processer for 3months and this think is pretty quick , even handle my Adobe Cs5 easy and another +1 is that pro got the DVD drive which Air does not...

Have To decide what the mac will be doing ? Just Email, Web Browsing ? If so MBA
If you plan to run CS5 etc that are memory hungry, go for the MBP

Good work...I second 50LTRv8, I think you made the right choice....while yes, the MBA is a very nice machine, the MBP has far more potential, given that it is actually upgradable. Hope you enjoy it.

Air would be cool, interesting to see how long they last / well they perform though seems like more like of a gimmicky thing. MBP better choice

Currently cloneing the Macbook HD so I don't have to re-install OS X Lion & Any of my applications already. Then I will pull it doen & fit the gear.

Glad to see you got the Mac Book Pro! I was coming to post not to get the Air! But you must have smelt my disdain for that horrid piece of "computing" equipment a fair while back :P
