Guys and gals..
I was downloading from iTunes last night, and kept getting an error, googled it, and turned out to be a conflict with the router firewall..
Now, I've turned the firewall off, the COMPUTERS ont he wireless (and wired) network are firewalled, is it important to have the router firewalled also, or does it not matter?
FYI its a Belkin next G wireless router.
cheers in advcance..
Pffft, hardly useful unless you think you'll be targeted.
Reaching someone on a dynamic IP, then having access to their router/modem through the WAN port is going to be slim-to-none chances.
Don't worry.
If anything, turn on ur firewall on the router n turn off ur windows firewalls. It ensures no one can ping ur router so they will move on the the next ip..
Try this first, the check I tunes. Most routers now have a rule to allow iTunes download without compromising security.
Alright, my next question is.. I have a password to acess the wifi here.. would that be "strong" enough to stop people getting in and using all the downloads n shit?
I don't know ur password, but run wpa2 encryption, minimum 8 char's upper, lower, numbers and symbols
How many char's u have now
I second that - make sure you are using nothing less than WPA2...the original standard for wireless encryption, WEP could be cracked by a 5 year old kid...WPA is a lot better, but if your router supports WPA2, thats what you should be using.
