There are a couple of places you can get cradles that you can connect an antenna too. Try searching for car kits, or mobile phone cradles.

Two shops off the top of my head:
    strike.com.au
    forcetechnology.com.au
    I aim to misbehave.

You can get passive antenna cradles like the poster above said but they will never be as good as a direct connection. It's a generic item and you could probably get it off some where like ebay for cheap.

Did you want the option of sitting it in something and potentially charging or just the option of an external antenna.

You will then need an external antenna to. Are you looking at a permanent mounting solution or something magnetic you can throw on the roof when needed.

iPhone4S on Telstra = best possible iphone coverage. Telstra Bluetick handsets are best possible option outside of Satelite services.

yeah no, i am happy with optus, its probably about even with all other companys in regards to reception IMO excluding telstra, but in the past i have had to much trouble with telstra and there prepaid offers where rubbish compared to optus
