Time to pass on the iPhone 4 to my Mum (her first smart phone) and go back to Android. I had the HTC Desire HD for a while (2 months) but because it isn't compatible with the Telstra 3G network (I refuse to use any other) and the Vodafone/3 network is so sh!t, I swapped back to Telstra and got an iPhone 4.
Bottom line, I miss Android on my phone.... A LOT!!! And to go with my new Transformer Prime TF700T in the next few months, I want a new phone. So it's between the HTC Sensation and Galaxy SII. Which one should I get and why?
Cheers,
Rufys

Neither....stick with the iPhone 4.
i just got a brand new nokia 6300! took a while to find one this old, but still managed it
everyone should have a nokia 6300
Have you read reviews on both? Or are you more interested in peoples' personal experience with them?
gsmarena.com is where I check out the latest handsets. Yes, it's an American site, but they review most phones in detail and provide not only arguments for the phones, but criticisms and alternative handsets too. Really good site for info, only issues are the package contents are usually different for Oz and we don't get half the phones reviewed (or get them much later).
Personally, the 'death grip' on the Sensation is enough to steer me towards the Galaxy2.

The VZ is here! About time!
Iv got a galaxy s2 and a iPhone 4, I perfer the iPhone cause its smaller n easier go type single handed, but I perfer the galaxy applications
1993 VR CALAIS 5 SPEED MANUAL,Lowered all around on pedders, 20 inch G8s, Option audio front splits, option audio amps, sound stream subs, pace maker extractors, high flow cat, 2.5inch lukey cat back exhaust
I had a HTC desire and it was rubbish, Slow, unreliable and the battery life was non existant, I hate apple but i can live in the iphone because it was a better rounded product. I think I'd prefer a Samsung over a HTC in terms of hardware.
I have not had a play with the SII, but every phone i've used/owned with andoid seems 1 step behind apple in terms of performance, battery and use as an actual phone. I'm far from a fanboy but a good products a good product.
Why type when you can swype!.
I've had both Galaxy phones, and my sisters house is full of iphones from 3 to 4s. Not a single thing their phones do that impress me enough to switch. Mines faster smoother and basically its a phone i can do anything i want to. Enter its (My-Phone).
Couple of months ago i downloaded a custom rom. Got me into faster updates than my carer. Not long after that i downloaded a kernel and app that increased the phone from 1.2 to 1.5mghz. At first my battery was a sad sad state. But after some new fresh updates from the custom rom they have tweaked it perfectly. If i remove it now from charging 30 minutes before bed and sleep 8 - 9 hours. Once i awaken the battery will display 95. Comparing that to 80 before this latest update. All stock very similar battery drop. So even over clocked it doesn't drain anymore than the factory rom. So i enjoy something that's 30% faster and it wasn't like it was slow before.
But honestly if your buying cash wise you can't compare the price of a 4s to galaxy sII, their hundreds apart. If your willing to wait the next Galaxy will be here maybe may-june?. And HTC always make good quality phones, but what they have done wrong over the past few years is build phones that are similar. Who can pick a HTC high end phone?. Bit confusing they have been. And the other question, Which sensation?. There's 4 of them right now?.

I think they have a xl ex or something maybe 3? lol. I think my nieces BF has a desire hd and he is pretty happy with that.

Don't want to hijack this thread but i was about to start one asking for peoples experiences on what phone to get also ( hope that's OK Rufys)..... My work is letting me pick any handset i wish. I have looked at the Galaxy S2 & the new Galaxy Nexus which has the new Android 4.0 platform. All i can see that lets the Nexus down is the lack of removable storage ( SD card ) it's apparently 16GB and that's it... I am thinking about an I-Phone 4S 64GB but hate how you have to have an i -tunes account to activate the phone then live in there world of anti PC mentality. This will be my first smartphone but i like to think i am a little tech savvy so the features will be used to there full potential...
Cheers..
if i were you.. (which im not =P)
i would probably wait until 4g is out. which sounds like it will be soon.
no iphones can run on it (built in obselecense.. think about it (apple profits duuhh..))
i know im waiting for this to occur.
oh and when it does happen... go the nokia 900 =P
(nokia n9 but on windows system, and 4g compatable)
read about it HERE: Nokia lumia 900
Great looking unit Drawntite..... I have only ever owned Nokias and rate them highly and also use windows 7 so it would fit in nicely.. But unfortunately i have to pick a new phone next week or wait another 9 months till the next few phones are due to be updated.... It will only be for 24 months and im sure by then these units will be surpassed as everything is now days with tech stuff....
Ive gone from the Iphone to the galaxy sII and i would never go back to apple!
The iphone has just as much crap as the SII but I do not need itunes and im not stuck with the useless crap that apple provides.
I will never go back to apple after gettin ahold of this android phone.
As for people talking about shorter basttery life etc well you must have every app open and never properlly close them down, mine lasts up to 5 days before it needs a charge sometimes longer and i use my phone alot due to work
Hold off for now because the latest 4G phones will be out soon. As it stands at this point in time the SGS2 is the best. But new technology isn't far off.

yeah johnsy, if you have to pick something soon maybe a nokia n9?
the black one has 64gb of storage (not sure if thats optioned or not)
i was really looking at getting it. until i read about 4g.
had a look at it today and was tempted =P
seemed very easy to use aswell.
also quick question.
what is a windows phone like to use?
and do you have ot have tiles for say facebook and xbox live if you do not have those things?
also looking on the nokia aus webpage i can only see the lumia 800 not the 900.
i wonder what the differences are
Windows phones are crap. There is a reason there usually not mentioned in the same breath as iOs and Android. Nokia have dropped the ball as of late so I wouldn't be looking at getting a phone off them.

cbf reeding the what everyone said, but
i would go the S2 although i haven't tired the other phone you listed..
reason is.. i have droped mine 100000 times and i have only one small crack that i can take back under warranty, there a large screen, almost to edge, just starting to learn the phone myself just upgraded from the S1 and i loved that over my Iphone's and HTC,
Iphones : 3 - had 8 screens in 20 weeks
: 3GS - had 3 actual phones and 2 or so screens
: 4 had gave up after killing it
HTC lasted about 4 weeks
Samsung Galaxy S1 i have still got just dont use had it for 8 months and only a few cracks
:Edit: All on 3G telstra,...
As good as the Galaxy nexus is one single thing lets it down just like the galaxy note. And surprisingly it's the screen. Both run pentile based displays. It basically means at some angles you should see some imperfections. It's not the case with the SGSII that uses samsungs real stripe rgb rgb pixel arrangement.
