Which Smart Phone?

Hey guys,

Just want opinions here. I have had my iPhone 4 (32GB) for 2 years now (on pre-paid not a plan), and I am thinking of replacing it.

I haven't had any experience with other smart phones before, which is why I would like opinions from other people who have used other brands.

I am looking at the HTC One X S720E 32GB or the Apple iPhone 4S, but you are more then welcome to suggest any other brands.

Another thing I have been wondering is if I decide to stick with the iPhone, should I wait until the iPhone 5 comes out (if they release them).

My iPhone 4 has been a great phone and still looks brand new (always had a cover from new) and the battery (still original) still lasts 3-4 days before needing to be recharged, but it's starting to lag a fair bit which can be frustrating sometimes. The software has always been kept up to date.

Anyway, any advice would be great

In my honest opinion I would look at a Samsung Galaxy S2. People will tell you it's old tech blah blah. I just recently got one as their quite cheap now and it's most then you will ever need. HTC One X you can't change battery or throw in a new SD card.

Just viewed that thread and there is some good advice but they are asking what is the best operating system.

I also should probably mention that I use my phone more for web browsing, storing all my music, it connects to the headunits in 2 of my cars for handsfree. The advantage of the Samsung Galaxy S2 is that you can change the memory card as mentioned.

I might go down to JB Hi Fi when I get the chance and take a look at the phones that they have on display.

I only have the 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy 2 but I have a 32GB memory card as well. More then enough space. Also the SGS2 is able to upgrade to the far superior Android 4.03 ICS build which makes the phone have a new lease on life.

I tossed up between the Galaxy s2 and iphone before going with the galaxy. I don't regret it. Awesome phone. And as above, can be updated from stock.

Yeah I have just been reading reviews about the Samsung Galaxy S2 and they all seem to be good, not too many bad things said about them so that's definitely an option.

It's already out in a few places and it doesn't appear to offer much more over the S2 besides quad core and the newest Android operating system. Which the Galaxy S2 can get anyway.

Just go on website's like HTC or Samsung and look at the current phones they have out, think what you need it for just texting and calling? I'd personally go for on of the new HTC's out like the One X used it today was a great phone, but don't go off what people tell you on the net go check them out in store if you like it get it

I've never owned a single Samsung phone before the first galaxy s. Now I have both and simply until they build something like they did in the past i'm not willing to consider another phone. It suits me i'm happy it's got more than enough in it it's the perfect phone I think. Now like I do every year now I'll check the new one out and get it..

I'm no apple phone fan I can't stand them their little boxed in world one size fits all like me i'm not changing to suit you - you fit me mentality. However that's not the point..
If you're truly happy with your iPhone and have been for sometime there's nothing wrong with waiting for the new one if you're happy with it. Because that's all that matters your preference in a phone. New one will be larger in screen size about 4" plus.

I have been very happy with my iPhone, but have been wondering if I should try something different. Bigger screen size would be good which is why I listed the HTC One X as a phone I would consider because of the 4.3" screen. But now looking at the Samsung phones, I also like the look and features that they have as well. They also all have good reports. In saying that though, everyone has their own opinions on each phone which is why I understand that I should go to a shop and look at the different phones first.

Only other problem I can think of with my phone is that the home button doesn't work half the time, sometimes I need to press it 4-5 times before it works.

I got a n7000 galaxy note the other day... its slower than the i phone 4 i regret it. stick to the i phone imo.

But the Samsung Galaxy Note is really big isn't it?

Note is 5.7 inches. A little too big in my opinion for day to day use. The Samsung Touchwiz interface is a bit so so but the joys of android is the custom systems you can have.

Yeah its huge good for ebay and forums but thats it.. its slow not many aps. and just hard to use. as soon as i pulled it out of the box it needed a update... go the i phones!!

My Dad likes it, but it is huge. You can't really just whip it up too your head to answer a call. It is not a phone, it is a small tablet.

That said, the display is nice.

I say stick with what you know will work fine, I had a Iphone 3gs, upgraded after 2 years from the plan running out (and is a bit laggy now), running the 4S now and it's been fine, alot faster too.

I mean i've heard good stuff about the Samsungs and stuff aswell, also bad. But people say heaps of bad shit about Iphones too don't they? Itunes is pretty shit but besides that it's alright..
