There is deff nothing physically attached to the floppy bus cable?

Got any virtual floppy drives running?

Run through the setup process, windows will allow for it to install from its own drivers file and then remove it in devmgmt.msc?

    aZk.

Nope, built it myself. No virtual drives.

By default they are normall enabled in BIOS, so just change it to none/disabled.

BUT I have no idea why windows would all of a sudden just pick it up and try to install it.

Just a funny side story - I had a flash drive that thought it was a 1.44 floppy disk and would not format out to anything but 1.44mb's. - pipped me off no end

It now looks like a flat 1.44 floppy as I smashed it with a mallett. Felt so much better after that, as it had me trying to fix it for several days to no avail.

Loosely connected to the phantom 1.44 heading

I was going to suggest physically installing a floppy drive. Then it wouldn't be a lie. lol

Had the same thing happen on my old machine and fixed it the same way. Not that you care now!

Ha ha - I have 4 of them sitting in my PC scrap pile + boxes and boxes of old floppy disks. Even found some old 720 k units with a hole drilled in them to make em 1.44's.

Now that's a while ago - showing my age

You guys just dont know how important it is to have old floppy drives (and good ones) untill you try and convert 3000 Amiga disks to images on a pc, you would and I have, pay 50 bucks for the right drive

I thought I was the only one that done this... Was so much cheaper buying 720's than 1.44's..
