hi, just wondering where everyone gets thier freeware programs. I have been looking for a dvd to avi converter but i can only find trial or demo programs. I have looked at Freeware Home - Free Software Downloads and Freeware Files - Free Software Downloads but am still not haveing any luck.

WS_FTP... or do you mean a website to upload files too that you have?

WS_FTP is a good ftp program... win_scp is also simlar...

There's heaps of free ftp clients... I think Firefox even has an add-on ftp client that does the job well.

i do know how to google. i went through the first 3 pages and downloaded the free programs and they all were trials,and not fully functioning trials either.
I finally found one called bitripper. Now i just need to find time to use it as it takes 5 hours.

Thanks just new to VE UTE. I will look at majorgeeks, i had forgotten about that site as i lost a lot of good bookmarks when i got a nasty virus from lamewire.

if it's a dvd to avi app you're after, get autogordianknot (or autoGK)
it's rad, and has a riduculous ammount of features, but is really easy to use too.

Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum Isn't free for the plat version,, but worth chucking $10 away for it IMHO, nice 700MB HQ rips!!

Most DVD's have copyright protection and cant be ripped without a certain program that disables the copyright protection.
SlySoft AnyDVD will disable the protection, you just need to find a cloner.
For the cloner I use Elaberate Bytes Clone DVD III.
