Default Getting data off a damaged disc

Ok I have a CD that thanks to a certain photo outlet is now damaged. I can put it in the drive, it pics up the disc, shows the thumbnails of all the photos but I cannot copy or open them. I tried burning a copy of the disc (wishful thinking) but it cannot do so.
Is there a way I can get the pics off?

A couple of things to try, you can try to make an image of the cd! rather than burning it, mount the iso on your hdd, or a little program that i have had success with is cdroller CDRoller - Toolset for CD and DVD Data Recovery

I managed to burn an ISO minus 8 files that were just too corrupted to copy. Better then nothing, but I'll have to see if I can get them all.

Be a bit far fetched but I don't see why not. DVDs however are multi-layered so it really depends.

depends on which part is scratched.

If its the metal(foil) top, then its a lot and i repeat A LOT harder to recover the data. If its mearly the plastic "disc" then it can be simply sanded back using a fine grain paste and pad + alcho.

The metal part means the actual data has be scraped of.. the lans or pitts have been screwed. Depending on how bad it is, there are some recovery software applications that use a complex bit correction algorithim to calculate the missing data via whats left. Again, deping on how bad it is.. even it may not be able to recreate the data.

Youll find though that most software for data recovery is purchase only.. unless you know what bit torrent is ...
