ok, day off and im bored. its too wet bother going out and doing anything on the cars, was talking to someone on msn and remembered my spare 8" lcds in the cupboard, time to make use of one of them.
obviously a work in progress, might finish it oneday.
this is the infamous server that uploads my pics(through my ridiculously slow connection) for the world to see.
its a dual p3 850mhz, 2gb ram, 9 hotswap sata bays that ill fill oneday etc etc. got a pair of 1ghz cpus to g in when i can be bothered buying waterblocks for it.
and a side on showing the guts
so, anyone else done anything similar to their pc's?
oh, and a shot of my gaming pc, yes, that is an old AT chassis ist shoved into. im still looking for a complete AT case with front and sides that i can put it into, i lost the front years ago

I love the server case!!
Ill show you mine when I get the pics off disk lol
Thats an awesome idea man, I love it. Though I think you need a new gaming case lol.
Im in the midst of building my server, just waiting on getting the money for the raid controller and its all done... running 5 X 650 gb HDD, a thrash 250 gb, and the raid can run 8 drives all up.
Ok here they are, It might give you an idea or might not but this is the one I tried to sell on here a month ago till my thread was removed from "not a member long enough" lol
Now it has 2 x dvd burners and 2x graphics cards crossfired
Heres my performance rating...
Its not too bad considering the highest rating possible is 5.9

i had 5.2 when i was running vista, and that was with my ATI card i think, now im running dual 8800GT's, but im back to using xp64.
http://lowagz.sytes.net/pc/underdog/score.jpg
and you need to do some cable management![]()
Ill probly end up getting THIS ONE, it was suggested to me by "fiestl" who's been helping me design/make it.
Ill post a piccy and some specs in the "post your pc" thread after.
That's an awesome looking setup... LOVE water cooling!
Curiously, non of the the same "wank factor" comments being made as were made when I mentioned I'm going to water cool my next system.
meh, watercooling for my server will be partially wank factor, other bit is i cant find any decent heatsinks to fit the dual slot arrangement with such small gap, i cant even find a decent waterblock(at a reasonable price) bar maybe some modified vga blocks
I used to do alot of programing so I ran it all the time,
Its a q6600 quad cpu and with the standard fan it heated and shut down alot
The liquid cooling i guess wasnt necessary but it eliminated the problem for sure
i guess it's not technically a case mod, but i AM planning on chucking an industrial pc in it eventually, so as to make it a NAS device.
anyway, here's what i built a little while ago.
Bought aluminium tubing and joints from bunnings as well as some alu. sheeting to skin it in.
hotwired a switch to an old psu and chucked it in to power the drive cage (needs 2 molex)
picked up one of these fairly cheap, and chucked it in the front.
i originally had in mind to use a SATA port multiplexer so i could run it off eSATA as jbod, but my motherboard had other ideas, so as a ghetto workaround it's running an internal 4 port USB hub, each running a usb >sata connector.
then i painted it all up and bunged a space marines insignia on the side, just in case all the nerdishness hadn't scared away enough girls :P
presently running 3x500 gig and 1x250 gig drives, though when i get some money i plan to add a TB drive to the mix, and get some better transfer than the present USB 2.0 (disk to disk sucks atm)
thats a nice shuttle. have you considered raiding the drives for the transfer speed using external sata
yeah bought a sata port multiplier/multiplexer that drew power from the PSU's floppy connector, but when i tried it on my Mobo's eSata connection it'd only see the first drive.
****ed me off too, cos i'm pretty sure it was the most expensive part i bought, but can't recall.
i don't think it was a problem with the multiplexer either, this Mobo is fairly retarded. i bought it because it was supposed to support ahci but ASUS pulled support for it bumping it down to ICH9. i had to tweak a bunch of **** for windows installer to even see the internal sata drive to install to.
Its complicated if your using XP as you have to install the raid drivers on boot even with external drives.... and most likely youd have to install the raid card driver in windows itself,
Vista is good in the fact that you can install raid drivers from dvd and even flash drives.
The setup I have at the moment is 2x 37gb Raptors raided (stripe 0) for my windows drive and 4x 320gb barracudas raided (stripe 0) for my storage drives.
The motherboard has native raid so no need for drivers with vista... XP on the other hand doesnt like to run well with raid and refuses to run on this system
a lot of water cooling systems are far from "wank" factor really. sure theres a lot of blocks and reservoirs and such out today that look bling, but if someones using watercooling for actual gains, theyre not going to worry about what it looks like.
i had a prebought watercooling system(coolermaster aquagate) running on my computer for well over 2 years without a hassle. it only leaked because the waterblock took a decent knock somehow and cracked the perspex on it. if i had've had a side panel on, it would still be kicking along.
I hate the look of the tubes running everywhere, im actually looking into water cooling my 360... Help prolong that peice of ****s life.
still needs to be cleaned up on the inside, but a quick photoshoot..
Click Me to see the OCAU PCDB Entry. - Pics are a little out dated,, but still looks basically the same.
dont want to sell the stacker do you?
id love to get a second one to cut down to standard atx height, but theyre still pulling a mint price

nope..
Mine was only $150 before the recent Cooler Master price rise..
Clickity
$199 is the cheapest at the moment,, not a bad bargain really,, good solid case with lots and lots of potential!
still cheaper than when i got mine, was like 350 or something minus psu, about a year after they came out, but still too dear atm.
