I woke up the morning, checked emails, had several hundred undeliverable spam emails bounced back. I think some lowlife dirty ****er has stolen my email address. I have managed to changed the password. I am thinking pehaps they got my email addy from ebay where I have it in my listings for members to contact me directly does this sound likely?
Anyway the emails they were trying to send were dodgy scam type things I don't want to be held responsible for any emails that may have got through to people. What should I do? Should I be concerned?
Thanks Julie.
Quite possible you have a virus, do a scan, and try an online scanner as well.

"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain't shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."
Contact the AFP lol.
Nah serious, if its an ISP email account, I will contact them about it. ISP's dont want people sending spam from their account as it reflects them and is alot of hassle for them, they SHOULD sort it out quick smart. Im just assuming its an ISP one cause you said you use it for ebay.
If its a hotmail or the like, change your password, and your secret question (the one you can use to recover your password), and contact hotmail if your that worried, though i dont think they will have much interest personelly.
My sister had someone get into her email a few weeks ago. All they did was send out heaps of spam to her contacts.
I ran an anti virus check, and 2 online virus checks all clearIt was an ISP account, westnet, I recently changed internet providers when I moved because I can actually get adsl2 here woohoo. Anyway I sent westnet support an email, they called me within 2mins fixed it all up. I'm actually a little disappointed I had to change ISPs because westnet support is really good and they actually sound like aussies not like the friggin useless Indians I am stuck with now at tpg

I spose its a but of a wake up call to me to make stronger passwords as I tended to be a bit non concerned about that sort of thing and my passwords would always be rate 'weak', I just preferred something easy to remember and type lol
Julie dont worry about changing to TPG over westnet.
Westnet use to have local customer service for each area, it was great, but they are slowlyl closing these down since teaming up with iinet.
I always had great customer service with them, they reason I went there and their office was based less then an hour away. Last time I rang up when the internet was down, they spent 3 hours with me doing fault diagnosis trying to eliminate my computer when no computers in the house worked, no modems worked, and their was no ADSL light, thats ok, but its when they wanted me to repeat the diagnosis AGAIN i really lost it with him. Also was told to google my problem, WTF the internet is down and they want me to google, not to mention i ring tech support for ummm tech support
Im changing and getting away from westnet as quick as I can, the only problem I have is the emails are used for work purposes, and I dont want to lose them. Also if I could get TPG here I would be going with them, great plans, and their an independent from telstra, they are owned by soul.
i had a similar thing with 3 mobile, i had two brand new phones that wouldnt work in my area, rang "customer support" (from home phone) & was told a tech would ring back within a few hours....i had to ring back in two days & was told they had rung twice on both mobile numbers & had no response, i had to gently explain that the reason i wanted help was the phones wouldnt connect. Ok once i can understand but three times i had to ring back & gave them the home number each time, still no good.
eventually i was transferred to a higher level cusomer support area & cancelled them both in about 4 minutes, they sent out postbags for the return of the phones etc, no cost to us.
brilliant, just brilliant.
