OK I'm replacing the PSU in my computer, currently a generic 550w one, with a Coolermaster Real Power Pro unit.
What I want to know is what is the difference with the following:
Cooler Master - Ultimate provider of Computer Chassis | Cooler | Power Supply
Cooler Master - Ultimate provider of Computer Chassis | Cooler | Power Supply
I prefer the second unit due to the better cable management and more connector options, but what other differences are there including any that would make it impractical to use.

I was going to use the real power pro 550 for my server, MSY didnt have it and wasnt going to get it in.
I paid the extra and got the M520, its a great unit. I love how you only plug in what you need, makes things so much neater, and the whole cabling is very neat.
The actual unit is DEAD SILENT, i cannot hear it for my life, at first I though it mustn't of been working and turned the computer on and off a good couple of times.
I plan on running 6+ Hard drives, DVD combo, and a PCI Raid controller, so it should have enough to do your computer, or go the 620 to play it safe if your using alot of graphics which from memory you are.
You can run alot more on the second one. Plus its a higher wattage, better for graphic based and overclocked systems
1st one
M/B 24 Pin x 1
CPU 4 Pin x 1
CPU 8 Pin x 1
PCI-E 6 Pin x 2
4 Pin Peripheral x 5
SATA x 6
4 Pin Floppy x 1
2nd one
M/B 24 Pin x 1
CPU 4 Pin x 1
CPU 8 Pin x 1
PCI-E 8 Pin x1
PCI-E 6 Pin x 2
4 Pin Peripheral x 10
SATA x 6
4 Pin Floppy x 2
Either one will be a great PSU, one is 620W and one is 650W.. probly overkill unless youre running a fairly heavy system, Id go the M620 because its modular, which is where you plug in what you need..
to see the wattage you would require if thats a contributing factor..
Calculate using that calculator and then go from there.
In my experience working in a business that has roughly 50 PC's get a Corsair branded one,, we have had nothing but trouble with the systems that contain the corsair PSU's.
That being said, our PC's run 25/8 and sometimes the heaters etc are left on over night.
If you have your heart set on a Coolermaster as it matches the rest of your gear, then by all means use a Coolermaster to keep the theme, just sharing experience really
Seeming as though your in Melb (dont know exactly where though) pop into PC Case Gear and have a chat to them about specials etc.. I always use them for purchases etc.
Being in melbourne your best bet would be to try MSY Technology (in box hill) or centre com computers (all over melbourne) for price and stock.
Main difference is the output power and the connections on those in the links.
Location is fine, I'll go to MSY in Pascoe Vale. Think the 620M is the go, it was the better unit in everything I could see, just making sure I didn't overlook something.
Current unit is 550w and not an issue, just going to the 620w for peace of mind.

I think you will be happy with the 620w, I was more then happy with my 520w.
I was abit unsure whether to buy it or not caus I bought it on the spot, but its a great unit, you wont be disappointed, and its dead silent so will go great if your computer is in your bedroom.
thermaltake silent pure power FTW
I actually ended up with a Thermaltake modular one. They had no Coolermaster in stock and I always see the same guy so he did me the 750w Thermaltake one for the 620w Coolermaster price.

That was heaps good then... Grats on the bargain.
Now to put it in and notice the difference![]()
Toms right.
Ive personally been through two TT's one after the other till I went to the Antec 800w
I was putting it down to two factory duds. But I guess they cant all be that bad.
He mentioned that, but it's got a 3 year warranty so I'll file my receipt away and see what happens. They had no other modular PSU's so I thought what the hell well give it a go. This was the official PSU for the 2007 World Cyber Games so it can't be that bad![]()

Hey guys sorry to hijack but I'm on the hunt for a psu also for my home theatre PC. Something around 350-380w max and must be as silent as possible. I was looking at the antec earthwatts 380w as I have the 500w version in this pc, however am open to suggestions (I know nothing of psu brands). Also I'd prefer to go to msy as I have one around the corner and they dont stock these particular PSUs. Anyone have any suggestions? Ta

After some research ended up going with the Zalman ZM360B-APS 360w. Runs almost silent, well over 80% efficiency, all in a very high quality well made unit. Its modular too and cheaper than the equivalent antec!
OK new PSU is all in and running.................AND THE NOISE IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!!!!
