Default Making a program run on startup

Im trying to make realVNC run on startup so i can stick the computer in a foreign place and remote desktop it (its a fileserver).
Ive cracked it with microsofts remote desktop as it keeps logging it off when i close it.
Im using VNC, it works great but wont auto start on startup.
Does anyone know how I can make it run, I tryed putting it in the startup folder, where it will run, but runs, you have to close the run command then it closes vnc anyway

    And windoze version?

Have a look at the services running, VNC will be in there, make sure it is set to Automatically startup.

There maybe be a difference between server and desktop editions though.

We're running VNC Server Free Edition 4.1.2

    Yeah Windows version.

Got it all sorted, I had to copy the "user mode" shortcut out of the start menu directory and put it in in startup, instead of the VNC server mode icon in program files.
Should of put my thinking cap on early.

a neater way to do it would be to make it run as a service by adding an entry into the registry... can post details if you like?

    Start VNC Service

    Then go to:

Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services

Find the VNC Service > Right Clock > Properties > Start up Type set to "Automatic"

if your administrative tools are not set to be in the Programs menu, Right Click the task bar and set the option in there.

Properties > Start Menu page tab > Customize > Advanced page tab > Scroll 2/3 way down the list and set to "Display in all programs"

    Couldn't be simpler.
