My internet plan just got complimentarily upgraded to 70gb p/m and down grading isn't an option.
There are only so many movies, given that each movie is 700mb and there is only so many naughty video's that one can download (although I'm happy to be proven wrong).
That aside, what do you guys use your download limits on? I think 70gb is a stupid amount. 100 movies a month is way more than I can watch and I think I've bled Mininova dry.
How big's your limit and what kind of a breakdown does it all get used on?
torrents, software ect...
games can be quite big with some of them up in the 6-7gig mark
start getting 4gb rips instead of the 700mb rips. buy a bigger hdd or 2.
i rarely watch tv anymore, so i tend to get shows that ive missed, or old tv shows i havent seen in ages. or stuff that just doesnt get shown in aus.
unfortunately mines only 25gb at the moment and i always go over. i just need to find a decent isp to switch to sometime.
I'm on 120gb an The list of stuff i D/L could get me banned for possibly talking about being a pirate...

Cheap as chips. I pay $60pm, get 70gb (peak/offpeak) and 500 free VOIP minutes.
We have a 200gb monthly limit between 4 people in this house. And believe me, we use all of it every month. We pay roughly $80pm for this, with free phoneline use "within reason".
Movies, music, and there's a never-ending stream of tv shows out there. From Top Gear to Dr Who, QI and Micaleff Program... there's a LOT out there to download. Then there's the daily gaming and web browsing... and don't mention YouTube. A night on YouTube will use quite a bit
But we don't have any issues using 200gb, and we share all of our music and movies. I currently have over 300gb of music alone, and 50gb of Top GearAnd that's just two folders.

I personally get about 3000/1000.
But I'm very far from an exchange and on the border of getting ADSL2+. Apparently once they install an exchange a bit closer to here, I'll be getting good speeds.
I can't say I'm too fussed, although I certainly wouldn't mind better speeds.

Farrrk! I get 60gb a month and I can use the lot in two weeks. Movies (just downloaded all 21 james bond moveis including the extras), games (most are 4gb+), TV shows (I don't watch tv at all), etc
It's not hard to do, you just have to be creative![]()
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
i got 750gb internal hdd and 1tb external and ive had 50gb limit for ages, i just been collecting movies, series, programs, music. its basically all you need to be happy![]()
I'm on 24 gig a month and really almost have to limit myself to web and yotube only :0, But I can also fit in the 4 episodes of Dr Who/Torchwood per month when one of them is current in the UK
At least I know I'll go to prison a long time after you guys haha.
I'm was on 20gb 1.5 - until a few weeks back.
Changed to 25gb, 10gb on peak, 15gb off peak - went over my 10gb on peak cap within the first week.
Now I'm on 25/25 @ 1.5
I use my limit on streaming videos, spikedhumor, break, and the naughty ones. Music downloads and applications, iTunes and everything else.. Haven't gotten a movie or a tv series in a while to be honest. And xbox live.
But it's now shared between 2 so it may be bumped up a bit.
I'm on a 16gb limit, and I know I could easily surpass it monthly if I tried! Fortunately for me though, I only download stuff I plan on buying (try before I before) and TV shows that I haven't been able to see, etc. We download movies only if the local rental store doesn't have them in stock (15mbps download speed) and then we get rid of them if we don't want to buy them!
I'm currently in the process of getting a 36gb Mythbusters torrent, and have a few Top Gear torrents lined up.
I was on 12gb a month but got throttled last month so bumped it up too 25gb and am haldway throught it. i pay $79 a month with telstra thinking of going else where but dont know who or what or where.. Have not had one problem with Telstra so i might just stay with them unless something else comes up....
Can someone explain the on peak off peak biz you guys talk of i dont follow...
On peak off peak is simply that.
On peak times are when most people use the internet, so they encourage people to use off peak times to free up bandwidth. Off peak is generally times between 1am -8am.
Please leave Telstra, you're paying twice what you could be elsewhere.
shakes fist at modem... *HARDER!!! FASTER!!!!!* then turns into crazy german kid lol

Yeah ok no i follow...
i owuld like to but unsure of what/who to go with have heard bad things bout other provides aapt, dodo blah blah blah and i have never had one problem with telstra.. so i dont really want to sign up with someone else find out its crap then cant get out of it cause i in a contract all because they couldnt provide what they said they would....
Most places you don't have to sign up to a contract - 12 months etc, I think others have it hidden in their terms that you have to be in it for 6 months otherwise you will take an early cancellation fee. But I think that fee is generally only around 30 dollars.
I guess this thread is a good place to start for providers. I've never had any troubles with TPG, but other people in this thread would recommend others.
Research and sticking to the bigger names and you're generally right.
I only get 4gig. But i use about 5-6 on throttle..
It's to small, A few Forums websites some updates a little youtube and it's gone.
