at least you wont have to deal with crappy online acheivements(X360) that are almost impossible to get on laggy ass american servers that and you get teh mods ftw!

well im glad i downloaded it rather than buy it, my PC can run it, but its like 10 FPS at best, not bearable.

switch to the lowest graphics. i think its on medium as default.

I brought it, but it wont start, i keep on getting a fatal error dd3d50, But my video card is directx 9 compatable, ATI said that they are releasing new drivers to help with the errors.

error :dd3d = a direct draw 3D error. Check your directX is functioning properly by opening up your "run" command and typing in "dxdiag"
a window will appear where you can check to see if theres any errors with ur directX.
if you upgrade to the latest version it might fix it.

just got this game yesterday and its bloody sweet only problem im having is my geforce 8600gt stops resonding then recovers every now and then it doesnt shut the game down but it is annoying

GRAND THEFT AUTO IV - Patch coming in the next few days (News)



We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval. The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

• A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
• Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
• Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
• Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
• Overall savings to memory
• Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
• Multiplayer character settings are preserved
• Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

my brother was saying that the laggyness some people are experiencing is not due to low system specs. aparantly some people with top line system have issues while others on mid to low range systems run it fine its strange. ive only seen my bro play, i dont have the time, but if cheats are available i might have a shot all weapons, and invincible would be nice hehe, dont care for missions.

i had this on the xbox was ok but not worth the $120 i paid for it $60 game i reckon there's nothing to do on it compared the san andreas. Your mates ringing up all the time its ****ing annoying

Mine flies! LOVE it on PC. Always better to play on PC than console... Just have to get the console version first...

I believe you have to bring up your phone go to menu, multiplayer then you should know your way from there
