hi guys.
my jetway 865gdmp motherboard still has problems. ive unsoldered capacitors and soldered new capacitors the same value from diffrent motherboards as some swelled up.
it worked great for a while and today when i stripped windows and loaded it the last time it restarted for the installation the board wouldnt boot but the writing in the bios comes up but part of its missing and i want to know why i unplugged hdds/dvd burner/memory modules and tried diffrent things and still part of the writtings missing from the bios but it still comes up.
i really want to know how i can fix this up as i cant afford a new computer at the moment so i really need to fix this board up until i can afford another new computer
The best thing you can do without replacing your entire comupter is replace the motherboard with a compatible one. Your motherboard appears to be socket 478, however depending on the other components of your system (RAM type, SATA or IDE drives) etc, this may or may not cause problems in getting a replacement.
I think (you would have to look into it more) a viable replacement motherboard would be the following: Asrock P4I65G M board Intel 865G 800MHz | MegaBuy Computer Parts , but don't quote me on this.
It really depends on how much you want to spend to get your comupter up and running again. If the BIOS on your board is buggered then there's a slim chance of getting it going again, unless there is some form of dual BIOS functionality. Best bet, buy a new motherboard or save up and replace the whole PC.

Sounds to me like you touched the motherboard.
When you touched the board did you use anti-static gloves? You may have ran static through it and wiped part of the bios.
Try another bios from the same board (remembering to run an anti-static film over the board first)
OR
If you have the technology and the smarts to take capacitors out and replace them then you woul know you will need to re-flash the bios.
OR
try changing the bios battery and see if it boots.
I would just replace the board, you can pick up pretty cheap boards these days

i unplugged the printer i bought from a garage sale and the board worked again(bios fully came up all writting was there but when i plug the printer back in it dissappears again
Hope the printer was cheap cause it looks like a lemon.
it was only 5 dollars and its got ink too, dont know how much ink but it appears to be the same ink that my printer but is there a way i can fix that printer
mate for a $5 printer i'd chuck it out. i have about 4 printers in the shed you can have for free if you come and collect them. They all have some ink in them i'd say and probably work with a good cleanout. Seriously a $5 printer isn't worth wrecking your computer for.
Have you tried another cable?

yes. dont know why the printers causing part of the bios to go out but when i unplug it it comes good, the memory card reader in it doesnt work either, thats what i bought it for.
might have to hook the other printer back up and get a internal memory card reader as my board has a extra internal usb header connector
excessive drain on the usb port? so the mobo is detecting it and not letting you boot as a safety precaution. either that or the psu doesnt supply enough power on the atx rails?
but if it were me,, throw the printer away, keep the ink if it is the same as yours..
or sell it in ebay...
I second those who say throw the printer out. Mate, old inkjet/bubblejet printers are literally worth bugger all these days. If you don't have a printer, don't want to buy one, but need one, ask around, lots of people have old printers that they don't need but still work that they'll just give away. Ask on freecycle, I'm sure you'll get one no problemo.

I could change all the toners in the 2 year old printer (which worked perfectly). Or for $80 less, I could buy a later model printer with a fresh warranty.
It would've been about the same price to buy my exact same printer as it would just to buy the cartridges. Ridiculous.
Thing is though, did that new printer come with full cartridges, or just "starter" cartridges? Most new printers you buy these days (particularly HP) only come with "starter" cartridges, which have bugger all ink in them, and usually run out after a couple of pages.
Me? I haven't bought a new ink cartridge in years - I take mine around to PCS and get 'em refilled.(despite what Epson says, you CAN refill their cartridges, I've got two Epsons that I've been running on refilled cartridges for years, never had a problem)
