xbox red light..........

well yesterday i had one light, light up red (bottom right)

now all i get is a error screen with diffrent languages and 'E74" as type of error

looked up all i could find and ran error codes on the box and came back with code 1022

E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.

tryed a diff av cable and no luck

now the crap part, its just passed out of microsofts 12 month warrenty by a month and a bit
we did pay for a 3 year replacement warrenty at the shop but for some reason the recipt which is ment to be in the xbox box is gone........

the shop has details on all are purchese on my membership but they didnt have the extended warrenty on the list

so we cant prove it and they dont have the records and microsoft wont fix it,

anyone got anyideas or tips to help us out????? not only me who plays the box my sister and old man loves it too

nah man sorry ive had to send mine back twice first time it was covered by warrenty and than the year starts from when it was last repaired again so i got it fixed for free twice when my brother gets home ill ask him for you he might know

All RRoD Fixes are covered on the 3 year warranty issued by microsoft(the store charged you for a warranty that is implied not offered as an extra)just get a copy of your receipt and microsoft should still honour it

a couple of hundred dollars? i picked mine up for $180 with a 20gig hdd and a couple of games... only a month old got the receipt and all... xbox 360's r getting cheap...

they have hard core heat issues as u have probebly notice whitch is the main reason why they die also they hate dust,

i did the good old towel fix on my old 360 and it worked for a month or so then it died so i straped it to fire-worx,

try googleing 360 fixes theres lots of fixes and stuff out there also ther is a few quick vids on youube on how to fix various 360 probs.

my curent 360 is going strong i got one of those nyko intercooler things and changed the power supply from the xbox to a power point one keeps it nice and cool.

contact ms, mate got his red ring warranty honoured just from the serial number of the xbox.

not a prob sav ill do it tomorrow some time as its in my lounge and my house mate and friend r making strange and suss noises and I'm not gain to go in there.

the inter cooler out of the box plugs in to the xbox and the xbox power supply plugs into that if that makes sense, but i cut the connector and the bottom of the inter cooler off and gave it its own power supply from a wall transformer because the xbox power supply (brick) has a set amount it puts out so if it was plugged in the in to the xbox it would takes the power before the xbox gets it and it wouldn't get the recommended power supply. youll see what i mean tommorow when i ppst up pix .

This guys got it right just ring them up have your serial number with you and they'll sort it out with their ****ty fake american accents

If its out of warrenty it will cost around 130 to fix. However if its red ringed you get 3 years warrenty so just ring them and confirm it.

Do not try any of those fixes like towel fixes etc. Also i wouldnt try those intercoolers. Some of them are prone to breaking the xbox more than it helps cool them.

Your best bet is either ringing Microsoft support ive forgotten the number... but should be somewhere on the xbox or something. Or what ive found helpful jump on the xbox australia forums and have a bit of a look.
