Default old tv as a monitor, can it be done easily?

Hi all, i have a 68cm tv in my shed to watch the footy an cricket on. I just set up a comp so i can look stuff up while i am working. Can i use the tv as a monitor? I dont want to spend anything if i can help it but can i get a graphics card that has an output that will hook up to a tv?
    Cheers Shane

most graphics cards have an s-video port to connect to a tv with the same port, but its only really useful for displaying videos. text isnt very readable on an old TV

agreed... there are also after market converters which will convert VGA -> S-VHS, RGB etc... not to pricey but it wont be very readable...

+1 for hard to read. I hook my laptop upto my old tv for slideshows. Pics are ok to veiw, but text is rubbish. Same when using the web browser on my wii, text is very hard to read.

there are some functions in windows to make text easier to read on large monitors, one of them I think is the DPI?? not 100% sure but i've done this on my 32" and I can read it fine, well enough to be able to post LOL

One thing you want to be careful of is that CRT tellys, especially old ones, suffer from "burn-in" REALLY easily, much easier than a typical modern CRT computer display.
