i got a crappy acer aspire laptop installed with Vista...now this laptop has had to get a new hard-drive installed as the old one had bad sectors and we could not re-format it as we had lost the recovery partition on the hard drive...so we had the guys at pc shop install the new hard dive. but i THINK the thing is we have now lost some of the soft ware to run the hard ware =/
im not gettin any sound at all from my laptop im thinking it may be the sound card driver possibly??
ive added a screen shot here to show the message that come up when i move the cursor over the sond control...
any wiz-kids out there that can rectify my problem?
greatly appreciated!

You'll probably need to install audio drivers. Find out what Aspire it is (should say it on the case) then use the Acer website to find the drivers you need. For example ifyou have an Acer Aspire T120 you would use this page Acer Europe - Service & Support, Drivers & Utilities, Downloads, Desktop, Acer Aspire T120
and click on Onboard Sound driver for Windows XP. Download it then install it. Restart and it should be working.
As CrimsonThunder said, go to the acer website and download the latest drivers for your model, but select Vista not XP
To me, it looks like the software is installed, but the hardware is missing, which isnt possible as they are onboard sound. So hes either installed the wrong drivers/software or damaged your soundcard.
Your old HDD had the specific drivers to make your audio work. Your new HDD doesn't.
To fix this, you need to go to the Acer website, find where to download the latest drivers for your SPECIFIC laptop model, and install those.
yep deff drivers u could download them or u could take it back and say oi do your job properly
Nah default vista install crud, as mentioned above google your acer model number and driver download kid of like:
acer modelnumber +"driver download"
click the first response that looks like it is an acer download page for the link so: http://acer.com/driver/download/etc/etc/etc
hope you get my drift im bad at explaining stuff,, but if you post your service tag code i can get the drivers for you...
there will be a little sticker with barcode on the base of the laptop with a few letters and numbers,,
post it and i will link the drivers for you. least i can do for bad grammar etc.![]()
