Im having some issues trying to get the Wii to connect properly with wifi....
I have a NETGEAR router & changed it to a WEP key as my sons DS only uses WEP not WPA which is what I was using previously.
Now Ive finally got desktop, laptop, & the DS working but the Wii say the connection is okay, but then it errors upon trying to do ANYTHING on the internets
Ive tried switching back to WPA, but to no avail, & I even tried turning off all security to see if that helped, but nope, nada
Help?
The wii and wifi is full of errors, I'd suggest getting an ethernet adaptor for your wii.
first of all is your router in mixed mode for the wireless? or 'g-only'???
have you set it to have a static ip(the wii) or dynamic?
i had no trouble setting up our Wii,, i use WPA-PSK and all is great,, never had any problems with it cept when im shaped then the updating process always crashes at the end, but thats not the wireless causing that. it may or may not be available to you but try using channel 8 on your router for the wireless
i dont use a netgear myself but what is your signal strength for the wireless set to? and is there anything else in the area that nay be causing interference?
do you have any wireless client filters turned on??
try being logged into the client filter section and then connecting or trying to at least to the internet with the wii,, see if the mac address appears in the list and set it to always allow or similar..
that makes no real sense at all but maybe try reading some of these links..
yeah yeah yeah i know no caps and bad grammar + punctuation
its all good now, tried all the above as I said, then I had to go out, so I left it sometime to think about its actions......
ha!
Came home & tried again & volia! So Im thinking it might have been nintendos issue at thier end, IE not letting us do our first update, maybe they had server issues.
But tis good now, spent today downloading heaps of old school stuff from VCso I now have Sonic (SMS version) Mario Bros (NES) Wonder Boy (SMS) & Super Mario World (SNES)
ah retro... thats why I buy the kids a brand new gaming console.... so I can get the retro stuff, & have them whine at me all day for not sharing![]()
yeah thats the best part of it all,,
if you ever get Animal Crossing (the new one) i'll post the daughter/better halfs friend code,, then you can rob their town of cool flowers, fruit, fish and other bugs.
we havent got that, I think my daughter might want that one soon.
I just finished WiiWare's LostWinds..... fantastic game, pity its short, finished it in 3 hrs
On disc we have Sonic: Secret Rings, WiiSports, WiiPlay, Mario Kart Wii, Wario: Smooth Moves, Big Brain, & Bratz.....
lol Kids got spoilt, just a bit!
I like platform gamers, any recommendations of good ones?? Althought the Bratz content drives me nuts, I also like the style, kinda exploring the area, doing little tasks/puzzles to unlock stuffs, so any of those are cool too....
Smooth Moves Rocks i recon
But with that WiFi connectivity. I have had dramas in the past, especially when changing routers.
I have had ZERO success rate with changing parameters and getting a router to work. The best way is to just forget that connection all together and start the setup process all over again with a new connection in the menu.
Nintendo really need to sort out their software there, it dosnt seem to adjust to change very well
